QUOTE(markedestiny @ May 16 2024, 12:14 PM) I am thinking of moving my IBKR which is UK based to USA based. You can trace back my post from here onwards: https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...#entry107156889 May I ask those who have made the switch, are there any issues or concerns after making the switch? How long would it take to make the switch, and what's the procedure like? It's a complete record of how the procedure works for me. --------------------------- Here's another example: https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...#entry105954389 You can search for "LLC" in the "keywords" section using the forum's Search Topic function to see posts related to the transfer from IBKR UK to LLC. polarzbearz liked this post

Was reading this book recently:
![]() Learnt a tonne about all those exchange rebates and how HFTs and market makers profit from Main Street... Maybe should route my orders to IEX next time... Some useful links: https://www.thetradenews.com/lessons-learne...rom-flash-boys/ https://www.nytimes.com/2014/04/06/magazine...hael-lewis.html https://www.vanityfair.com/news/2015/03/mic...-one-year-later https://www.reddit.com/r/CFA/comments/j5tlh...wis_flash_boys/ The book was longlisted for FT Business Book of the Year 2014. --------------------------------------------------- Another interesting read is Dark Pools by Scott Paterson. ![]() This post has been edited by TOS: May 18 2024, 12:00 AM |

Good news for TSMC shareholders: https://www.chinatimes.com/realtimenews/202...headl_p04&chdtv
They have a new customer: Google's mobile phone division. (The cloud computing side already has its TPU chips manufactured by TSMC back in 2016). Original article: https://www.androidauthority.com/tsmc-tenso...xel-10-3445056/ This post has been edited by TOS: May 27 2024, 12:02 PM |

QUOTE(premier239 @ May 28 2024, 10:06 AM) are we allowed to buy US govt bond on IBKR? Hi, yes, you can buy US Treasuries directly on IBKR or via ETFs. if yes, will the interest received upon maturity hit by 30% tax? To buy directly, you may search for "US-T" in the Order Entry window on the Trader Workstation or Bond Scanner if you use the web portal. For ETF you may just consider BIL ETF and search for ticker "BIL" just like any other stock. |

QUOTE(Medufsaid @ May 28 2024, 11:36 AM) do u foresee an issue if someone sells their LSE etf to buy US stocks? since LSE will only move to T+1 only 3-4 year later. you might end up with negative cash balance for 1 day Ah good question. I think the cash balance has to be top-upped by borrowing... I Googled "UCITS settlement" and I found a bunch of documents.https://www.efama.org/sites/default/files/f...0Regulation.pdf https://www.etfstream.com/articles/etfs-ris...-1-misalignment https://www.euroclear.com/newsandinsights/e...1-for-etfs.html https://www.arthurcox.com/knowledge/implica...or-irish-funds/ I personally don't like the complicated nature of UCITS so I stick to VOO, QQQ etc. over on the US side. Now with settlement period mismatch and potential borrowing and lending behind the scenes, these contribute to an even stronger motivation to stay on US onshore. QUOTE(xenonarc99 @ May 30 2024, 11:03 PM) Hello guys, I'm looking to buy some Ireland-domiciled ETFs on IBKR. Hello, you should ask in the IBKR thread over here https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/4843925/+7700I have changed the pricing structure to tiered. But when I'm just prodding around in the app using the calculator icon, the sum showed is more than $1.9 and increases with the size of the investment amount. Can somebody tell me how much they acutally charge and how much should I invest to make the most out of it? Is a monthly DCA of around RM1,000 - RM1,500 makes the fees worthwhile? Thank you! With the T+1 settlement in US onshore market and thus the mismatch with UK/Europe's T+2 settlement, it's best to stick to onshore US market ETFs like VOO, QQQ etc. for peace of mind... I don't buy using the app so can't comment. But if you use the Trader Workstation software, you get to choose which exchange to route your orders to. It's generally advised to choose ECNs like Turquoise, CHI-X or BATS Europe as their charges are cheaper compared to the original electronic boards/exchanges whose stocks are listed. DCA-wise, let me ping Medufsaid. xenonarc99 liked this post

QUOTE(AthrunIJ @ May 30 2024, 11:27 PM) If you do recurrent trade not sure if can select the exchange or not, though you get to save on the FX conversion fees as IBKR will auto-convert the cash for you. This need to ask sifu Medufsaid. But for one-off manual trades you always get to choose the exchange to route your order to if you use the Trader Workstation software. Never use SMART router for European stock orders. For US side large cap super-liquid counters have very narrow bid-ask spread for most exchanges, so just let SMART route the order to the one with the cheapest fee will do. xenonarc99 liked this post

Tried transferring 781.45 HKD to IBKR from my Mox Bank HK account today at 10.17 am. Money is in by 10.41 am.
I notice they change their bank entry format. Previously beneficiary name is IBKR but now it's your own name at Citibank N.A. Sounds like you have your own bank account in HK... Now gonna try out the auto FX conversion feature to buy BIL ETF. The commission rate is 0.03% right, no FX markup from mid-market interbank rate, last time Medufsaid confirmed?
