after reading, my interpretation is if you have spare $XXX that you don't want to put to stocks, buy T bills in multiples of $3700? then the remainder spare, put into $BIL for further optimisation

RSP for LSE etfs is now back to $1.70. the $0.35 party could be over https://www.reddit.com/r/singaporefi/commen...ent_lseetf_fee/
*
tested LSE fares by buying
  • 1st batch manually @ $xxx.00
Was charged $1.91, so tallies with my excel calculations (commission + exchange fees + clearing fees)
  • 2nd batch via RSP @ same price
Only charged $1.70, so I guess exchange and clearing weren't charged
both same ETF

so if I buy BABA I should get 90% of the dividend. so far what I posted correct?
*
if it's $BABA it's the same ole 30% WHT? while if it's HK Baba (9988.HK) it's 10% WHT?

FinalHistory at $106 monthly, $1.70 in commission fees is 1.6%

I have no straightforward answer for you. Yes the amt is quite little but if market moves 1.6% in that month and you didn't invest, then you missed the boat

actually stashaway don't have Irish domiciled s&p etf. If you really consider stashaway, might as well buy US etf in IBKR at U$0.35. Then once you accumulated RM14,000, sell and rebuy CSPX. My calculations tell me that the $1.70 fee will only increase after the RM14k mark

if 30% WHT, it's a deduction of $1.908 per 1 share of $470.01 $VOO. assuming $CSPX has same dividend, you only save $0.954

Dividend Payout of 1 $VOO Divident Payout of 1 $IVV

Do I still need a CIMB SG bank account? Is it better to have one (or any other offshore account) over Wise, especially for large amounts?

I tried signing up to CIMB SG but it says I need Singpass, which I don't have, since I don't live in Singapore.

Try to apply here https://www.cimb.com.sg/en/personal/forms-a.../fastsaver.html

Wise is really expensive. If I transfer RM100k I'll have to spend RM596 in fees. However, if I use Moneymatch, I can easily have a 30% discount on that. It's still worth the effort.

FinalHistory just buy $VOO or $IVV, once you have enough, switch over to $CSPX. let's say you invested U$479.75 or RM2259.62 into VOO, every year you'll get $7.2044 in dividend. that's a deduction of $2.16132, if you bought $CSPX, you'll save $1.08066 (RM5.09) in tax deduction. so you calculate how much $VOO/$IVV you accumulated before selling and buying CSPX

HouLeiiShytt do take note that if you want to open CIMB sg acct, you cannot use Wise anymore. can only do through these
  • deposit S$1k from CIMB MY (expensive)
  • deposit S$1k from other sg banks
so, unless u are ok with the expensive fees to transfer that S$1k, open a MBB (or OCBC) sg bank acct first. open CIMB sg when you want to transfer back to Malaysia

LostAndFound yea it's a hard decision that i'm happy i've escaped from. either open MBB/OCBC sg, or pay RM3,570.10 to CIMB MY (wise current rate is RM3,539.07)

if you buy <U$6666.66 worth of shares manually, u can let IBKR auto-convert for a fee of 0.03%
QUOTE
For currency trades executed under the auto currency conversion service, IB will typically add or subtract (at its discretion) 0.03% to the exchange rate that would otherwise apply. Please note that IB does not separately charge a commission on these auto-conversion trades.

when was this? it always took 1 days to appear in CIMB sg. last week i withdraw and no unusual delays. funds came the next day.

btw, do hook up Wire + Local electronic transfer. at least many alternative ways to withdraw out

Avangelice wise is expensive, but credit where credit's due, it has gotten cheaper.

just make sure you convert into your USD balance, then send that out. don't send out MYR to IBRK as you'll have convenience (fixed) fees of RM5.36 added on https://wise.com/my/pricing/send-money?sour...etCcy=USD&tab=0

(does this even make sense when I convert X 2?
*
that time it make sense as
  • wise charges 0.6%
  • money match charges 0.4% for SGD. and IBKR charges U$2 per U$100k converted (if use recurring investment, IBKR provides free service to change SGD->USD)

now it should still be cheaper, but gap narrower

normally for IBKR, we transfer using remittance companies to CIMB SG, then send it over to IBKR. check the past few pages

One time cost assuming you sell to withdraw and use.

If it's sell to buy other stocks (or buy an ETF with lower expanse fee), you'll lose out further
