I personally have installed deadbolt and mortise types of digital locks that don't use the internet. Here are the pros and cons of using digital locks I've used.

Pro:
1. Keyless.. No loss of keys, no keys locked inside, no visitors waiting outside because of no keys
2. Can generate the passcode without internet and without physically being there
3. Auto lock timer
4. Multiple passcodes - Permanent, One-Time, Timed, Recurring

Con:
1. If tenant is smart enough, he/she can factory reset the digital lock
2. Run out of battery

How to solve con:
1. There's a master key to open the lock
2. Can standby spare battery at premise
