Before I got my Ninja 400, the Rebel, along with Forza 300 were two other bikes I considered. But that tire price and availability issue was one of the reasons I didn't choose it in the end.

It's a shame because out of all the options, the Rebel's design is the one I wouldn't get tired of looking at. It's 'evergreen' due to being that classic look with the round headlight. Don't need to go fast to look good on it.  thumbsup.gif

If you ever do decide to ask anywhere about the tire price though, let me know. I assume the BigWing branches can order stock of the standard tires for replacement. Am curious to hear how much it would cost.

Sure will do icon_rolleyes.gif . Will share the it here of course.

Ninja 400 thumbup.gif but I'm not into that kind of bike anymore. More into modern classic / cruiser /bobber style. Going for look rather thatn speed sweat.gif

sure can get frm outside shop, cos same as hd 48 variants.. will be expensive...

I'm guessing the price would cost a bomb. Another alternative, I'll ask my father in law to buy from his hometown (Thailand). sweat.gif

1st Service (1,000km) - RM193 (3L engine oil & oil filter)
2nd Service (5,000km) - RM175 (3L engine oil & oil filter)
3rd Service (10,000km) - RM200 (3L engine oil, oil filter, chain lube)

Coming service - replace coolant, replace brake fluid (coolant & brake fluid change every 2 years regardless of mileage)

Chain lube every 1,000km.

Rear tyre puncture, last year - RM5 (that 'cacing' thingy)

Road tax - RM180 per year

Insurance - RM750 (max NCD)

Original Rebel 500 Workshop manuals - USD45

All 100% DIY. thumbsup.gif

That not including accessories that I bought from Thailand - H2C straight handle bar & riser, H2C brown grips, H2C foot pegs, etc sweat.gif

Thank you very much for your valuable information for someone like me who is considering getting the rebel. Mind to post some nice photos?

Also, does rebel considered as "top/hot kena curi" list?

Most of the cruiser type of bike is not on the thief radar.. so is safe.. just that the "bling2" thingy you ought to put on the bike might get stolen from itchy hands...

Bike itself is not. But if it uses very clearly branded brakes like Nissin, then your concern should be brake caliper and master pump theft.

Same case as with any other big bike in Malaysia due to lack of enforcement on the matter.

Do join Rebel whatsapp group. Very active. thumbsup.gif

Not many photos, I keep my Rebel 100% stock. Nothing fancy. sweat.gif

Rebel hot bike? LOL. Not many like bobber / cruiser style. The thing might get stolen is the bling2 that can be taken with few nuts & bolts. Brake caliper, master cylinder, spot light, etc.

Thank you all sifu for the replies. Now I can stop being paranoid about getting the rebel. Can't wait for the 2020 to be launched. Cheers!

2020 Rebel nice, all LED lighting. Some tweaks with the suspensions, seats and few features thrown in. thumbsup.gif

I had the same idea. Just turn it into something unattractive, maybe add cosmetic damage or engrave the bike's plate number on the calipers. tongue.gif

It's basically like the new CB500 line now and has slipper clutch and gear indicator as well. Looking good.

Now to wait for reviews.

Hi Everyone, I'm looking to get a cruiser motorcycle.
May I know what brand of cruiser is best for a beginner?
Also, where can I get them and what budget should prepare for it?
I'm actually considering about Kawasaki Vulcan S or Honda Rebel. Both are around 30k  hmm.gif
Is this a good choice?
*
I think both of them are good and reliable. Price wise, 2020 KL OTR for that Kawasaki and Honda are RM27,172 and RM32,399 respectively and that's a RM5,200+ difference so that's a lot of money to consider. But more importantly, they offer different personality, the former is closer to a modern cruiser while the latter is a retro bobber. Choice is subjective. Do not let anyone sway it or else you may regret because it becomes other peoples' choice.

I am not that wealthy and only had a RM20,000 budget but always wanted a custom hardtail cruiser so ended up with a CKD Regal Raptor Bobber as in the photo below which I admit its budget quality varies between units. Overall, I'm happy with what I've got but beggars cannot be choosers.
