How to install / uninstall the softwares that are not in AppleStore?

For example PSI Jabber https://psi-im.org/? After I downloaded and install it, it is not listed under Application to be uninstalled.

It shows like another HDD icon to be accessed from.

Installation is usually just copying the app to your Application folder. If it is a PKG, then there is an installation process.

The HDD icon is probably just the DMG that you mounted. You can dismount it after installing/copying it.

Normally after you download the .dmg file, open it and it should have an icon for you to drag it out.

You can either drag it to your dekstop or your applications folder

It is so hard to learn. I have to use MacBook for my work now.

The file is dmg. So there will be no installation process?

After installed it, the Psi icon is visible but it is not listed under application. Just drag the icon to trash = uninstalled?

The HDD is listed on side bar under location. Right it can see eject. I tried to eject it but then I can't find where psi is stored on.

1. Download PSI
2. Open the DMG
3. Open up your App folder
4. Drag PSI to the your App folder
5. Unmount PSI
6. Go to your App folder and run PSI

If you don't see PSI in your App folder, you didn't manage to put it there correctly.

To uninstall, drag PSI from App folder to your trash.

There are little to no "portable apps" for MacOS.

Telegram get it from App Store. As for keepass, look for Contributed/Unofficial KeePass Ports.

May I know how to search PSI files on Mac like windows so I can restore message history files.

Wonder Safari Password is safe to use and save passwords for all logins?

I don't use Safari often, should be OK. You can use Chrome or FireFox web browsers for saving login passwords. Just download from their website.

What you use on Windows ? Probably already available on Mac.

U will eventually learn how the OS works. One of the method is what u are doing now, asking questions. We will help as much as we can.

To use multiple OS is great. Be it windows or mac or linux.

Anyway u can install Parallels Desktop and run windows together with ur mac given the app is not available for mac.

Show desktop? If u using macbook pro, u can set ur trackpad 3 or 4 fingers gesture in settings.

To open an app downloaded from the net, after install just right click and click open.

Parallels not that heavy, just be sure to set the correct hardware value according to ur usage when install, RAM/CPU/STORAGE.

Show desktop > In windows, if you press this button on bottom right, all apps are minimised and you can see all your icon on desktop.

Where to find that show desktop?

You can set a shortcut for it under Settings > Trackpad > More Gestures > Show desktop

I have many files that are currently in my windows 10 and I need to use two laptops for work. I don't know how I can do my works in a better way like before...

Like previous forumer mentioned, you can actually dual boot ur Mac to have both Windows and MacOS.

Just buy the software called Parallels. Then you can install windows on your mac

If it is dual boot, then i can't work simultaneously since i constantly need some files from windows to Mac and vice versa.

Then you have no choice but to have 2 different machines

What files are those? Cant it be transferred over to the Mac?

Most are office files but I can't be allowed to use Microsoft office. I was told to learn Numbers

U can install microsoft office in macs.

U can run windows simultaneously with mac. Parallels or any virtual machine app enable u to do that.

errr why....? numbers only work on mac. excel works on both platform.

well, if thats the case u might wanna learn how to use numbers to create spreadsheet then. get used to it and u will know how it works in no time

Numbers are very similar with excel. If you are doing just those basic functions and not really advance or programming level, its similar enough.

Weird boss you have. Normally ppl would go against Mac and keynote/numbers/pages and only support MS Office. But yours is the opposite

I think it's pretty safe. I'm using for years without any issues.
It will prompt you for more stronger password or reusable of same password.
If you using other Apple devices you password will automatically sync via iCloud.

2. Open Finder and go to Downloads.

How about if store passes in Keychain?

I am thinking how to sync my files against two machines that the files will be stored on Windows machine and Mac will assess it to work on it and sync on both.

yup, I enjoyed using multiple OS for the past 2 years, before this just stuck with Windows OS. Then jumped ship to a new company, start to learn MacOS, Linux(Debian, Ubuntu, CentOS)

Yes you can. 'Keychain' stores your passwords and account information and reduces the number of passwords you have to remember and manage.

When you saved password on Safari actually it will store/save on Keychain. Your Wifi password also stored on Keychain.

I think is not sensitivity or tracking issue. It is the whole mouse like you can't control the cursor... sometimes it is not controllable...

i believe it is OS issue with bluetooth mouse...

Read google answers from several parties and they claimed need to use wireless mouse instead of bluetooth.. some said use laser...

i use logitech m221 mouse in windows and very smooth.

But i put to MacOS, it is not smooth at all although have adjusted the mouse settings. I feel like the mouse is too heavy to move although i can't feel so when in windows. Hence, my right hand is felt heavy when using the mouse.

Any idea and recommendation?

i'm using logitech g304 with my macbook, i need to configure the mouse DPI to my liking as well as the Mouse in the system - Speed.
if not, the tracking speed is so slow/draggy.

Yes correct. Where is the setting to adjust DPI n system speed?

Go to System Preference - Mouse -> Adjust Tracking Speed. Your mouse doesn't have the manual adjust dpi settings via Logitech software.
You can only do so via the above.

thanks but it doesn't smooth as in windows although it is the same mouse. In windows, my mouse is very smooth and I can handle tasks very well. But in MacOS, the mouse has affected me to work better because the mouse is not as good as in windows.

I'm new to this platform. Just got myself a MBP 16" with Catalina. Just want to ask, is it normal for the MBP battery to drain around 1-2% each hour while device is sleeping (not shutting down). Thanks.
