Wow I didn't know, especially CHR
Are the existing CHR in Malaysia already on TNGA?

thing is though, being a FF, how much can those double wishbone suspensions help?

I heard the hatch (or maybe incoming GR version) may have adaptive suspensions, don't think Malaysia getting.

CHR is on TNGA, its a new car model

Wonder if this is being CKD-ed or CBU-ed? Priced very un-competitively

MYR depreciation more or less has a role in the recent price hikes of cars being sold in Malaysia.

If compared to major currencies, MYR depreciated > 20% since 2015. Major engine parts are being manufactured in foreign countries and our currency weakened a lot against them.

Not a surprising factor our local car distributor will bring in the cheapest tech to lower the price, eg no Dynamic force & old gear box for Toyota & no SkyActiv X in Mazda.

If they bring in all the latest tech, Altis can easily cost 160k for the 2.0 dynamic force & Mazda3 200k for SkyActiv X.

They will probably stay where they are in the sales tables...I'm guessing this model won't shake the market enough to overtake Honda.

More and more Malaysians want hi-tech cars AND hi-tech performance. So the old engine without the new tech would be a deal breaker for many hoping for the brand to make a comeback. They had their chance...

Traditionalists would bite perhaps but they are getting fewer and fewer in number by the day. With the Civic FL coming in with newer tech, there's little that the Altis can do to stem that tide.

Or could it be that they prefer slightly lower volume but sky high margins per unit? It all depends on their strategy for the market. AFAIK, and based on my ancient info, Toyota does make very healthy margins over here. That's why they are able to re-invest back to provide better aftersales.

Old 1.8l NA, no 2.0 Dynamic Force, No Direct Shift CVT
Maybe all these feature will be found in the facelift of this model?

At least the dynamic force is introduced through the ES, i believe got chance the facelifted camry will see this engine next.

They may have some concerns with the engine possibly due to fuel quality and other what nots, but to omit the new transmission is kinda like doh.gif

I don't think the dynamic force engine will cost that much extra, but skyactiv X, yes because of the added components and complexity of the engine itself. Dynamic force engine, although a new generation engine is still a regular NA engine. Some more i guess maybe mazda advised toyota a thing or 2 on high compression NA application for their dynamic force engines.

And mazda themselves already specifically mentioned that skyactiv-x will be applicable for markets with stricter emission regulations, ie europe. Even north america kaya raya market tak dapat skyactiv x.
