White Rabbit candy IS NOT halal; contains pig and cow DNA



It’s a sad day for all Malaysian Muslims.
Remember that favourite candy from our childhood? The one where which we were constantly confused about?
We would constantly ask: is the inner wrapper edible? Does it have mercury in it? Is it halal?



Well, turns out it’s not.
Not halal we mean. The inner candy wrapper is still edible though…

The Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Fuziah Salleh released a statement to TV Al Hijrah yesterday saying that White Rabbit candy has been confirmed to be HARAM.



The sweet and milky treat was recently tested by the Chemistry Department for traces of pig and cow DNA following a request by JAKIM.

Results of the test found that White Rabbit candy is positive for pig and cow DNA.

FYI, White Rabbit candy is produced in China and imported into Malaysia by a Kuala Lumpur based company which has never made an application for halal certification.

JAKIM was moved to make the inquiry into the halal status of the Chinese made candy after rumours of it being non-halal went viral online.

We figure that you, our reader, have most likely, at some point in your life, eaten White Rabbit candy.
Which leads us to the next question: what does one do if one has accidentally consumed something that is not halal?

Nothing.



Well, probably you should mengucap and taubat never to eat the candy again.
But besides that, apparently, there isn’t much else you can or need to do.
