 How much do you have to save before marriage?

I'm not talking solely about wedding costs only...but in general how much should you have saved up before getting married?

If u have a house and car and not planning any kids immediately then 50k is more than enough. Of course the 50k saving is subjective to how lavishly u would like your wedding to be.

The rule of thumb is to have roughly the equivalent of your annual salary in savings by then, experts say. If you earn $50,000 a year, for example, you should aim to have $50,000 put away. icon_rolleyes.gif
