Thanks for the clarification. Once I pair with SG phone and SG sim with my friend in Singapore and activated the ECG, do I get to pair with my MY iPhone when I back to Malaysia? What if I decided to reset my watch? Will the ECG get reset as well and need to pair with SG phone and SG sim again in Singapore?

Thanks.
*
i do believe that you have to go to SG and do the entire process again BUT i could be wrong, maybe some other member can further clarify

i've asked in Reddit too, so maybe they might be able to help

but this raises a question, last time Apple patched geofencing to prevent users from using ECG outside of the US (where it was approved)

what if later on, Apple patched this workaround?? hmm.gif

so have to purchase in sg in order to get the ecg to work? or can i get my set and activate in sg?
*
nope, you gotta purchase SG set since the ECG function ties to where the watch was purchased from (eg: SG US India, whichever country that supports ECG)

ok thank u, but i still not clear about this ECG activation things...

If we bought the Apple Watch at supported country like SG, then only activated it at Malaysia, it is obviously that ECG function not working... what if later we go to SG and try to activate the ECG? Is it possible? If yes, what is the process? Do we need to do it by unpairing, then restore bla, bla, bla - the same process when we first activated the watch...
*
from what i can understand, the FIRST time activation is important, so if you missed that first time activation, then it might not work even if you go back to a supported country and try to reset it

i could be wrong though

Anyone getting the cellular version going to use which telco?
*
go for same telco as phone i guess

last i recall when i chat with Apple Support, they said got some technology called Mobile Number Sharing so the watch's gonna be using the same number as your phone?

wonder how did that Huawei Watch GT from Maxis worked, did users used the same number or another number

Instead of trying to get ECG feature from our neighbor country, is it possible to push the "party" responsible for approving the feature in Malaysia?
*
that would require dealing with MOH dy

In Singapore it is add-on charges around $6 per month, hopefully in Malaysia the price is acceptable, otherwise the cost of owing cellular AW will become higher
*
maybe around 2.2k for Aluminium GPS + cellular

hope monthly subscription for Number Sharing etc2 will be less than RM30

fingers crossed

Digi will be the first to have AW Cellular follow by Maxis and Celcom.

I think due to M and C dont have VoLTE. AW Cellular requires VoLTE support.

It will work fine, just that indoor coverage won’t be as good compared to Malaysian/Singapore model. Digi operates their 4G network on LTE bands 3/5/7/8, and US models don’t support band 8:

Did you first turn it on and set it up while in Singapore or back in Malaysia?

And need roaming to activate?

If I connect to wifi also can right? laugh.gif
*
not sure about wifi, but i think you need to either turn on roaming or buy their SIM and connect to their local telco

i could be wrong about this though

because past experience by forummers here all either used roaming or paired with a SG phone with SG line there

i really could be wrong, need other people to reconfirm

Confirm no need VoLTE? Based on my finding/understanding. eSim that work on AW Cellular requires telco support VoLTE.

Even Digi FAQ mentioned:
Btw, hopefully Celcom and Maxis have VoLTE since they want to support Apple Watch cellular caused I am using Celcom now haha.
*
ya i also using Celcom, hope Celcom will sappork
