Hi I have this canon 24-70L mark 1 for quite long time already and staying in dry cabinet.

Recently i took it out to clean and found out that it is sometime not smooth to turn the zoom ring from 28->24mm, it's like you have to use a bit of force to turn it fully to 24mm.

Is it the lubricant dried out or something else? Anyone face this before? And is there any place I can send it for repair?

Thanks in advance.

Mine been with me for 9 years already. No problem with turning, but sometimes got click sound when turning the zoom ring. You have that sound or not?

Correct. The click sound usually first turn only. But after first click then no sound already even turn both ways. After you focus and defocus, sometimes will have click again. Yours behave the same?

Keeping too long in the dry box , will make the gear or motor not smooth.
Perhaps you should use it a bit to see if it loosens up, but dont apply too pressure,
otherwise something might break.
If this doesnt work, send it in for service.
