Just collected my car last night after upgrading the sound system. Total damage RM13K+. Overall quite pleased with the sound quality especially the stereo image, front stage and clarity of the sound. Really pickup the little details not heard before. My only comment is the mid tone is a little bright maybe because the speakers are still new and stiff. Will let them gradually break-in and see whether the sound will soften after a month or two.

Head Unit: Retain Stock Unit
DSP & AMP: Helix P Six DSP
Front: Ground Zero (3-way active)
Sub: Nakamichi Under-seat Active Sub
Sound Proofing: 4 Doors

Don't think it's considered a ripped off as I have checked the item prices before engaging them. I roughly know the cost if I were to buy the items myself. I have ran businesses in SG for decades before retiring and my prices and pm ain't low either. You need good pm to sustain a business and so do they. I can roughly estimate their pm and considered the time spent, item cost, professionalism, workmanship and quality of the setup, I don't see it as a ripped off. Anyway, they are a reputable car audio installer and I can see cars queuing at their shop waiting for installation.

haha, good excuse for your self..... good if you think it is reasonable, but for a lay man. it is very expensive and imo, the money spent can be used to buy a better car.

Not an excuse as I was a businessman before and I know. Anyway, owned better cars before in sg and also don't think it's worth the money besides the coe. ☺

Hi bro, what do you think of Helix P Six DSP? Is it worth the investment?

I know this Helix is very expensive. But it is made in Germany.

Yes, it's very good...definitely worth the investment. Not many DSP with amp able to output 120W rms per channel...mostly in the range of 60+ to 80+ rms per channel. Moreover this Helix comes with 64-bit resolution and 96KHz sampling rate. I can hear so much details in the songs when playing 24-bit flacs.

Firstly, you do not need to invest in this Helix if your speakers do not require such power. Secondly, you have more options if your car has the space. My original intention is to have a DSP (Helix DSP.2 or Hertz H8) plus 2 four channel amps (Precision Power ICE1600.4) but my car only have 2 spaces available for the installation which is the space under the driver's and front passenger's seats. You will have more options to lower the cost if your car has the space to accommodate 2 amps at the boot.

I guess I will stick to this Helix P Six DSP for a long time...but will consider upgrading the speakers in the future.

I avoid changing the HU to minimise the possibility of system malfunction which might affect my car warranty as it's a new car. This happen to my bro-in-law's car when he upgraded the HU, the system malfunction and affecting his warranty claim. Now, we are only tapping the signal from the speaker output which greatly reduces the possibility of system malfunction.

Moreover, the stock HU comes with a satellite gps navi system which is quite useful when you do not have data signal to use waze.

An expert ICE player suggested that I can install the Helix HD Audio USB Interface into my P Six MKII DSP Amp and I can play HD music via my phone or tablet, bypassing the HU. The direct digital signal transmission (without additional AD-DA conversion) from phone or tablet to my DSP with up to 192 KHz / 32 bit allows lossless audio processing for perfect sound quality.

I will be exploring this option but need to think how to install it in a neat and user-friendly way.

Convert to SGD...not alot lah. I'm not into competition...just pure SQ listening pleasure. I have gathered precious information from Quazacolt's thread before my installation, so thought of contributing back by sharing my setup here. Just curious what equipments will you be using for under 5k budget...as the online price for Helix P Six MKII is already RM4k+. Frankly, I would have gone for german handmade speakers like Micro Precisions 7-5-7 if not for my wife. But, they will be in the list for my next upgrade.

Anyway, thanks for your offer. smile.gif

Late 90 & early 2k distribute by Mobile Audio Technologies SB.. in mid 2k after gaining popularity in Asean, authorised distributor has been snatch by RS Audio Malaysia SB & price increased 3x compared to MAT price.. heard after few years RS Audio Malaysia SB died just like that.. true or not, I'm not sure.. Your helix dsp class D towards dynamic side which it suit more to RS Audio or Scanspeak.. MP, Focal & Steg (need warm amp) if you more on instrument, jazz, country & slow song/music.. DLS & Morel if you more on Vocal..
