You should be lucky the ACE market in Malaysia is still kind of "active". In HK, their regulations "kill" any chance of SMEs seeking to list on HKEX.

Baba shareholders beware. Softbank might unload its stake via ADS listed on NYSE.

QUOTE(Toku @ Feb 10 2022, 04:38 PM)
I found Futu SG able to open account. Their Hong Kong account commission is only 0.03% much better than IBKR 0.08%.
They don't have custody fee and dividend collection fee compared to 0.5% for most Hong Kong brokers. Their client assets are segregated so no commingling. I think it is a viable broker for long term investor. Only downside is that many fees are hiked with a Singapore GST of 7% and soon to be 9%.
*
Well, Futu is listed in the US. Since you said you are concerned with US-China tensions etc and want complete avoidance then Futu is not for you.

Hang Seng Bank results: https://www.hangseng.com/en-hk/about-us/inv...s-announcement/

Baba should come after HK market closes and before US market opens.

Some analysts still thinks Softbank will sell BABA to bolster its cash. https://www.chinatimes.com/realtimenews/202...87-260410?chdtv

BABA broke the 100 handle briefly premarket due to disappointing results. Now slowly recovering.

Growth has clearly slow for alibaba.

Tiger Brokers also can trade. Can us wise transfer funds in. But withdraw will need a SG bank. Easiest to open is CIMB SG or Maybank SG. Can do all online.
*
Err are you sure Maybank SG account can be opened online entirely?

I know CIMB SG can, but Maybank SG you may need to go to post office to collect your first time login passcode (in a letter) if you are not in house when the postman delivers your account stuff (cards, welcome letters, first time login passcode etc.). Your account debit card, welcome letter will be delivered as usual even when you are not at home, but the first time passcode needs in-person verification at the post office, at least from my past experience.

Just something to note for those who want to open Maybank SG account.
