For hostel I think it's better than you get a 2.1 instead of 5.1 coz the room is pretty small, by placing 5 speakers inside the small room, the interference might affect the performance, just my opinion. Z5500 indeed is an entry level for 5.1.

ic, thanks for your opinion, because i just love the surround feel,

hi guys, recently i just bought edifier m3500 5.1 speakers and now i would like to seek guidance from you all please,

and unfortunately right, this speakers of mine is connected to my laptop which only have 2 headphone jacks and 1 microphone jack, and this speaker required 3 jacks, is there any way to fix these?

and the problem get worsen if i used asus xonar u1 which only comes with ONE jack,

and currently in order to make all the satellites working, i am connecting through aux from the speaker and to headphone jack either on my laptop jack or asus xonar u1,is there any way to improve this?

is there any difference if the speaker connects through aux and or the default ones?

please please do help me, thanks in advance!

@:+:[J]erR[y]:+: , from my experience, altec lansing is really good in terms of bass, but the problem is the clarity is way too bad, so the best is still get edifier, yet this is just my recommendations~

@ktek, erm, for me, i'm not bashing altec lansing products, and not even is brand racist, i'm not edifier fan boy as well, it's just the fact, if you compared both of them, you can get the answer~
