QUOTE(LIW @ Jul 8 2007, 04:13 AM)
Hi everyone,

Currently I am looking for a speaker to use at my workplace (desk). I am leaning towards 2.0 speakers. Budget is rm250-rm300. Mainly using my speakers for listening to music (mp3) and radio (online). Gaming is out of the question since I am not supposed to play games when I work. Movies, well I might when I have no work. So bottomline 95% music.

I went to a shop at BJ Complex (Penang), the salesman quote me RM180 for M3300 cause its a display unit. Do you think its adviseable to buy 2.1 compare to 2.0? Any input is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Regards.

one thing bout display/demo speakers, never ever ever buy them unless you really know the shop owner a lot.a demo speaker went through additional wear and tear than the rest.they are runnning 12 hours straight usually, running at a volume higher than usual hearing level and certain speakers which dont have protection or cover for the drivers and tweeter is also subjected to more damage.

conclusion,i highly advise NOT TO BUY DEMO SET.

Hi besaid,

Thanks for the advise. I am still seeking for the right speaker my own use at work...

Regards.

well,if you want a speaker that wont disturb others while playing, maybe you should check out the MP230,its a highly portable mini speaker.

how about edifier c2. i plan to use it with my cheap tv since my cap ayam tv only can produce mono sound.
*
hmmm, personally i prefer Edifier S2.1M more than over Edifier C2,its not my liking tongue.gif .if remote is a must, maybe can try Edifier M3310,but i prefer Edifier M3400 hooked with the TV.much more easier to work around with its RCA input.

2nd thing,if you are using it mostly with astro,go for direct connection instead of going through the TV,its much more better to me.

VS2320 is a good 2.0 speaker? Anyone heard it before?

Added on July 10, 2007, 11:03 pmhow about a xa2021 for xbox360??

xbox 360?check out if your cable support up to 5.1 channel or not.if its not, consider changing it to the 5.1 cable and get a R501 MK2 for surround sound gaming and Halo series will never be the same again,if its only 2.1 and you dont plan to change, try the speakers that are more towards powerful bass.any of the below is great improvement from the normal TV speaker.

cheap -->expensive
Edifier M3400,Edifier S2.1M,Altec MX5021

then maybe you can consider edifier M2300???though slighty more expensive than M1310,but its a great improvement overall.somemore it fits your budget perfectly.with much more powerful bass,i think its better to pair M2300 up with the 360.

remember to test it out 1st.trust your ears most

well, you dont buy a speaker because of the spec,is it???you buy a speaker that will satisfy you most while fitting your budget...and,human's ears only capable of 20Hz-20,000Hz,whats the point?just buy which suit you most

hi-fi speaker and multimedia speaker is really really different as they aim a totally different consumer groups.so,my advise will be,go to lowyat plaza and try those speaker within your budget.i believe you have a good pair of ears enough not to be influenced by salesman
