ermm...

If you are using computer without any 5.1 decoder sound card, better stick to 2.1 speakers, caused it sound flimsy when you hearing mp3 on surround system, even with virtual surround on. In my case I'm using 5.1 speaker with surround processor, where mp3 playback is channeled to digital out to the processor. rclxms.gif

u mean the 5.1 decoder sound card is sound card or dac?
*
Sound card with discrete output to the individual speakers for all 5 channels+1 subwoofer. Unless your 5.1 speaker have dedicated digital input then you don't need such sound card cause it has their own sound processor, but most if this kind could caused u bomb price, at least RM 600 blink.gif

Can anybody suggest some products from Sonic Gear? How's Sonic Gear Blue Thunder IIR doing? I have a few in my minds. Can you guys give some comments on the following? Sonic Gear Evo 7, Sonic Gear Blue Thunder IIR, Sonic Gear Apocalypx A6, Sonic Gear Enzo 5000, Sonic Gear Enzo 6000. I'm looking for a speaker within RM350. I know what I can get if I go for Edifier however, I would like to know what I can get if I go for Sonic Gear also. Please help me guys..... Any harsh comments can be accepted.

I don't recommend for you to go for Sonic Gear. It's internal amplifiers sucks. I'm now using Enzo 5000, if it's without my 5.1 surround processor the sound is very flimsy..if you serious go for edifier, i forgot the model but if not mistaken it comes with digital input jack. spend extra abeit so you won't regret later..lucky for me not just buying the speaker sytem but i'm was planned to put surround processor in my sytem setup. blink.gif

erm how about symphony musics? will 2.0 speaker works more great than 5.1?
*
I always listen to music using 5.1 speakers. I like the ambience when the music played with rich matrix sound, which you could feel all instrument playing around you. Just ensure you have a decent surround processor to do this. Don't depend much on speakers internal amp. Since my surround processor doesn't have ProLogic 2, so surround sound played is 4.1

And my advice, if you using mp3 music source and using 5.1 speakers, ensure you connect it via digital. Using normal stereo jack will make ur music sound suck.

Just my 2 cents.

guys how many inputs is needed in the soundcard for 5.1 speakers?

right now i have 4.1 speakers and it has 2 jacks (green = front, black = rear)

do 5.1 speakers require extra input on sound card?
*
5.1 speakers needs 6 inputs which is Front Left,Center, Front Right, Rear Left, Rear Right plus a connection to subwoofer.

I think you need to get new 5.1 soundcard.
