Currently im looking for a speaker around the RM200-300 so these are my choices.

Altec (ATP3)
- i heard the new ones(ATP3) in the market is not as good as the older
ones sold last time - need this verified
Would appreciate very much if forumers can help me in choosing/ rating
or recommend me an alternative

Hmm. I plan to buy on pc fair.. but u know la pcfair, at that place  got ALOT speaker there and macam perang speaker there. Quite difficult to listen and differentiate which 1 is better.

First of all, your monitor's mini jack is stereo analogue output, not digital output(SPDIF) that support multichannel sound, connect through this output to get surround is absolutely impossible.(from the spec, i didn't see any SPDIF terminal from your monitor, so i assume it is just analogue output, please read the manual carefully)

You got two options

1.Get the PC speaker that support digital optical connection.
2. forget about PC speaker, buy AV receiver and home theater system speaker.

Those who put woofer on table ,suggest u put it on the floor,u will notice huge different

harloor...got samthing to ask... if i got 5.1 soundcard and 5.1 speaker... and i play mp3...will the sound be 5.1 or just 2.1? or is it different soundcard diferent sum 5.1 sum 2.1 for mp3?

Hey guyz, Im juz wanna ask for recommendation for good speakers(5.1) and hopefully a sound card too for my new gaming rig. I recently finish farcry2, overall the experience was fine except for the audio as I couldn't pin point where are shots coming from and i can barely hear what are the characters are saying which i had to rely on the subtitles; it's as if some1 turn down the volume on the in game voice speech.

purpose of my use is obviously for gaming, music listening and movies. My budget would be anything below RM1k.

BTW, if it helps i'm currently using an onboard sound card and a really old(5~6 years) altec-lansing 2.1 speakers.

i'm not sure, i dont own any 5:1 before, the cable i use for my PC speaker is the green jack one.

what is the maximum that the red and black support? does it has any length limitation like our LAN cable for our modem that only support up to 100m

then how about the speaker cable thing?? i dont really need those high quality cables unless the low quality cable really affect the sound quality by a lot......

u'll get bored with 5.1 later, in terms SQ 2.1 speaker is better.
