guys, im interesting with the Altec Lansing VS4221..how good was this speaker..maybe who owned it can give some advice..
thanks.. notworthy.gif
p/s: i am welcomed you to recommend me other model, my budget range will be around RM300-RM400, maybe RM 500 max

- i am no more interested with Sonic Gear, since my current speaker kaput already, and their very lousy RMA services..
*
haha disappointed with SG huh...??

If rm300-500, i rather choose S330, you can ask for review here, plenty of s330's user around here smile.gif smile.gif

else, go for more bassy speaker --> z4, gmx2.1 or mx5021 which is slightly overbudget for you, rm550+-, i mean only mx5021, z4 and gmx2.1 fit your budget nicely.

thanks for your advice ^

i am not expert about music thingy like y'all ..but i admit that i love bass and crisp sound.. laugh.gif

so it's kinda hard for me to decide which one is good..Im thinking to get a new speaker from Altec Lansing FX4021/VS4221 <---*my highest priority*

any recommendation for other models/brand are welcomed.. rolleyes.gif
*
Hmm so you prefer stronger bass, then go for z4 or gmx2.1, FYI gmx2.1 is selling quite cheap in malaysia smile.gif smile.gif

p/s: and i heard someone was claiming that FX4021 is suffering from distortion or cracking sound.

Actually there is a Edifier Showroom/Inter-Asia in Penang. It's written there in the receipt. KL Showroom and Penang Showroom.

Yea, It's always better to test at home coz you can listen it slowly, furthermore, you get to pair it with soundcard as well smile.gif You'll notice quite huge diference before and after pairing with SC.

Between Edifier S550 and Logitech Z5500D anyone? Im so confuse which to choose, coz I know most gamers prefer logitech z5500 but then I read a lot of bad reviews here, look like lowyat member prefer edifier... mine to tell edifier made from where? I want realistic bass like crashing car sound like real crash car inside your house... so which suit me?
*
If not mistaken Edifier is produce in China, but their engineer and designer are from Canada, and main company is from Canada as well.

Well if you are seeking powerful bass, go for z5500, no regret, anyway, it's a bit weak when comes to music.

its sole purpose would be for music listening only

1st, i'm using this moderate system and satisfied with it nod.gif nod.gif
2nd, imho, e-series is series that concentrate in design more than sq, not sure about this statement, but i was told by someone.

2.1? better choose 5.1 surround sound... How much is your budjet?

It won't be that good, for a small room to have a 5.1 system, but i doubt your living room is not that small, maybe you can get s550, or s730 for 2.1.

In term of bass, z5500 better, but when comes to music, s730 produces better clarity.

maybe my question not detail enough..sory ya...which speaker have the most superb bass in range price of rm1000...sorry  icon_rolleyes.gif

R501 mk2 is a low-end 5.1, about rm400+-, so what do you think blush.gif ??

If you wanna make it inside rm1000, then s730(rm999+-), best 2.1 speaker in rm1000 IMHO.

If you wanna get 5.1 instead of 2.1, then s550(rm1299+-), off course you have to pay more nod.gif nod.gif

QUOTE(Yggdrass @ Apr 28 2009, 10:25 PM)
Hi there.

I'm looking for a set of 2.1 speakers to use with my laptop+monitor setup, and possibly with a PS3. I use it mainly for listening to music (about 90% of the time), and some occassional gaming... The genres of music I listen to kinda vary... like classical/orchestral, rock, vocal, instrumental...  but in general most of them cover from very high to very low notes, and ranges from having lots of instruments (you can kinda assume it's something like classical/orchestral music) to just a piano.

I'm not a bass person, just sufficient bass to give the music some depth would be good enough... but more importantly I want the music to sound as clear and original as possible (not sure if that means speakers with good clarity, richness and depth/detail, but this could work too?).

My room isn't very big either (about 3-4m x 2-2.5m) so it doesn't have to be too strong. Thinking of going for Edifier or Logitech. My budget is around rm250-300.

Any recommendations? So far I've only checked out the Edifier M3200 and Logitech Z4, and I found the bass on the Logitech Z4 abit too strong even tho it was only set to half volume.
(Test conditions: Emo Rock music; Speakers and woofer placed next to each other on a shelf).

It was about 10-15 degrees in the store where I tested it too, just in case anyone needed that info.

Thanks. Hope that description wasn't too complicated.
*
Honestly, 250-300 don't have much option, either m3300 or z4, m3300 for better clarity and z4 for better bass, and powerful. I'm using m3300 as well, and I'm satisfied with the SQ, and the bass quite ok after I paired it with Asus Xonar U1, but actually I only like the bass when movie, I'm not a basshead when comes to music.

If you don't both of them can satisfy you, and you can increase your budget to around rm400+-, s330 or gmx2.1, same difference, clarity and bass smile.gif smile.gif
