Z5500 sub is not shielded... most big subs arent. The magnetic field can dmg ur hdd or crt. Vibrations wont dmg anything, wont even make ur cup fall off the table. But you still dun want it to be near your cpu, vibration when you play a cd may be bad news for SQ. (Jitter?)

lim is still learning so funny questions may come out at least he want to learn wink.gif But i hope you buy your speaker soon, then the real fun begins. Dun forget to put sound card as a future upgrade as it is a must!

Hi folks icon_rolleyes.gif

I'm planning to get a surround speaker with the budget of RM300 (give or take).

Generally Altec Lansing / Logitech comes to mind but most of their 5.1 speakers are way out of my budget.

That is until I read about Edifier M3500 which I see the price as RM320. Cheap but I'm not sure if the quality is good. Anyone with this speaker can give me their thoughts about it?

Thanks. flex.gif

not necessary. u buy the Z5500 first. if not satisfied with the sound, can spare some money to buy soundcard. i suggest u buy the Z5500 first.

because, u need to get the speaker first, and explain which part not satisfying. and get a soundcard that corresponds to your needs.

Remember pick a soundcard carefully suit what you need. There are some sound card which doesn't improve the performance at all.

Go for soundcard... cable useless for you as z5500 not as sensitive as hifi speaker. Trust me. I tried Rm300plus cable for it and didnt do anything. biggrin.gif

Do you want a surround system or not?? If you do, then go for 5.1.

How big is your room?? If you are placing a monster like s750, definitely the space will bottleneck the performance of s750.

i really hope u read my reply promptly. i did said, get the Z5500 first, and then decide which part you want the soundcard to improve. anyway u can buy first, but in the end you may regret if it doesnt suit you. as i said previously, asus and creative have different personality. some ppl like asus, some like creative. u cannot just say this one better than other, because sound is subjective. just like food. some prefer rice others prefer noodles.

as for the cable, it improves performance, but since Z5500 is just a computer speaker,
the difference would not be much. so dont upgrade the cables.

if u cannot listen to them, reads reviews in google. if you dont understand terms like boomy bass, tight bass, recessed mid or etc, ask here.
by reading those reviews properly (u should cause u are really concerned), u have idea how it sound. at the very least, if u dont want reviews u just tell us what are your characteristic and expectation of a speaker u gonna buy.

let me give an example, my own experience:
- i like to listen to techno and electronic songs, i prefer great bass than superb clarity. -> basshead
- i like to have a speaker, that has good bass that when i play even at low volume, i can feel the heartbeat -> find spk with deep bass
- my room is super small -> dont find a speaker thats too big. my ifi is too big in my room.
- when watching movie, i want to feel the ambience of the movie, make my room sounds large -> get a room-filling speaker.

if, u give details like my examples on what u like and what u dont, trust me, more forumer can suggest u to which one to buy, without being afraid u get the wrong one.

hi to all pro....need help icon_question.gif ..... edifier m3500 and sonic gear 2R 5.1 which one can produce better high frequency?

low frequency not too concern on it since already bought "altec alnsing XA3001 woofer". my budget is below rm350.

Edifier R501 mk2 is too exp for me plus i use it in my room only. Use it for listen music and watch movie (surround sound).

i research a lot of forum from low yat, most of it support Armageddon and blue thunder (sonic gear). As for the

edifier,most of it recommend r501 or c3.

Before i go to the shop listen for the both speaker quality,i would like to ask u guys suggestions first.

currently using creative xi fi extreme audio.

please give some suggestions.

thanks a lot... smile.gif
