Budget?
Those 4 cameras in different price range. A lot low light shooting? You need ultrazoom?

This is the power of the f31fd: http://www.trustedreviews.com/digital-came...inePix-F31fd/p8With higher ISO, you get more natural night shots rather than using flash. However, you may have to shrink the image size of high ISO image, so the noise is less obvious. Of course, if you are willing to spend more time in photo editing, there are always some decent noise reduction software... Added on July 4, 2007, 9:27 pmOf course, ONLY if you still can find the F31fd....F40fx is almost similar to the predecessor, except with SD mem card support, but ISO max out at 2000 only.... Also the higher res @ 8.3MP (though high MP doesn't guarantee better quality shots) Oh ya, if you happen to see other cam like SONY DSC-W90, etc...their high ISO is really disappointing.....This is just to give you an idea that high ISO not neccessary produce decent image like the F31/40fd......Try do a little bit of Googling and comparison before you buy something......You can try trustedreview.com....simple but nice reviews... LOL. is it mean F40FD is not that good compare with F31fd? i heard a lot lyn forumer also say that. I do find about Panasonic LUMIX FX100, the ISO of the camera is 6400 maximum while Max ISO for lumix TZ3 also reach 3200. Are these cameras good in taking photo at night? From internet, the main idea i get is fujifilm is really good in taking human face and nice photo during nite while panasonic is good in taking scenary. Correct me if i am wrong.

QUOTE(yawhong @ Jul 6 2007, 01:26 PM) oo F40fd have. Added on July 9, 2007, 1:05 pmheard that lumix lx2 is quite a good camera, is that true? can i take low noise pic at low light condition as well as f31fd? when it comes to low light condition, panasonic is always at the other end of the scale. this is lx2 at ISO800(the left one): http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/panasoniclx2/page10.aspthis is f31fd at ISO1600(the left one): http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/fujifilmf31fd/page14.asp

so which one is better for image quality? f31d or f40fd? f40fd support the SD card right? so it is much more cheaper to buy the memory card for the camera.. and how the battery charge for f40fd like? need to take off the battery and charge separately or just can charge it by connecting it through the camera?

the ISO6400 for the panasonic is useless unless you're making prints not larger than 4r. ISO1600 is good enough for most cases. Higher iso doesnt mean better. A good Image Stabilizer is many times better than high iso.

after do some research i think panasonic is really suck in handling noise but there lense is really attractive. For normaly usage, i think f31fd is still a rite choice if compare to any compact camera in the market. From review, even sony t-100, canon ixus 850is , fx100 also not that good compare to f31fd, am i rite?
