Hi everybody. This is my problem. Im a macbook pro user since 2014. Last year, my unit suffer a "water attack" and after many tries to get fixed, it just went off. Im literally about to make a decisión, but I really im ignorant about new updates, since I havent upgrade mine I all this time.
Im about to get the 2019 Macbook pro 13inch with 8gb/128ssd (economic reason). But just now, thanks from a friend, someone offer me a mid 2015 macbook pro 15inch with 16gb/512ssd New on sealed box, never opened before.
The processor of the mid 2015 model is 2.2GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 if im correct, while the one on the 2019 is 1.4GHz quad-core 8th-generation Intel Core i5 processor.
I know the pros and cons on hardware, I like the old model because of the USBs, hdmi, card reader and im conform with the model. Negative, 6 month seller warranty.
The New one im just curious about the touch bar, and New processor. Possitive, 1 year warranty.
I always prefer 13inch for the portability, but 15 is not a problem.
But simply and forward, wich one is better macbook? Resuming power, processor, and full specs. Can you help me decide? Since is only 1 stock of the 2015 one.
Thanks in advance to everybody Who took the time to read this! Kind regards, Leandro.

I have benn readin lot about it.. But wait, I just saw a recall from Apple from last June, telling users about battery Fire hazzard on mid 2015 MBP. You guys have any information about this? https://support.apple.com/15-inch-macbook-pro-battery-recall

But im really concerned, since yesterday I found out, many airlines banned from fly 15inch MBP mid 2015.. In June Apple made a recall on some of that models, and if well not ALL the units are affected, basically now with ban, they will. Since its imposible to difference them on an airport.. If i go with the 2019 13 inch, it would be a lot of power difference?

I don't think so there will be significant difference based on your usage, but for photo editing maybe additional storage space would be handy. There was a battery recall for the MacBook 2015 so maybe you can check the serial number of the one you were offered to see if it is indeed affected.

Check the serial number first. But at the same time I was concerned about the fly ban. You are very right with the extra storage spec.. Its really helpful, but taking that apart (using externa hard drive), the other specs will make big differences with the new processor? Thank you so much for your time!

Thank you so much for your time! We'll, I'm using a 2014 MacBook Air with 4GB RAM and it's still flying. Macs are generally built to last so I don't think there's an issue with the hardware specs for the 2015 MacBook Pro. That said, you'd be buying something that is 4-years old, which is a very long time with regards to technology. If you can live with the 128GB storage, I'd advise you to go for the new MacBook Pro. Go for MacBook Pro 2019 instead but dun buy 128gb version. It is a total waste of time. 256gb is bare bare bare minimum.

I would take the 15" anytime if it is legit new & sealed.
Even if it is proven on paper the 13" 2019 could speed faster than the 15" 2015. Nothing beat the extra screen space, load more storage and RAM in the long run. Let alone no "dongle-hell" with USB-C.

The current generation of Macbook Pros are problematic, due to the butterfly keyboard, while the 2015 Macbook Pro 15" has just been banned from many airlines (don't expect the airline staff to know the difference between newer models and older models, and worse whether the battery has been replaced).
Sorry to say, until a new Macbook Pro with a revised non-butterfly keyboard is released, it is difficult to recommend it. PS: I'm using a 2015 Macbook Air with the scissor-keyed keyboard, the only drawback is the poor quality display compared to the Retina model.
