ThinkPAD X395 AMD Platform (Ryzen Pro)
Previously I was think that AMD is it well performance than the Intel 8 Gen. This time I had mine X395, I am very surprised of the performance and speed to covers all those software. What do you concern about the AMD Ryzen PRO 3500U/3700U or Entry level 3300U. Usually we always hear from peoples said AMD Suck no good, very slower to handle all those software. But today I am had mine on hand, this is amazing machines, the APU fan seldom kick-in to blows out heat. I am very satisfied of these, so far had mine on Ryzen Pro 3500U very well , this is not as slow or too fast like a Intel i5/i7 always on the tubro mode.
Why X395 not consider of T495? My answer is light weigh for me to carry anywhere if I want.
Comes to : personal review on this Thinkpad X395 laptop.
Build-quality is good , but not as good as T495 or X1 Carbon 5th to 7th Gen , cause the laptop chassis is made by the fiber-carbon. For this guy X395 β body 70% is made with PPS β poly foam with carbon and overall feels like plastics.
Performance : to me is more than 9/10 , not as fast or too slow, this is average speed to open any software. LCD display upgrade from TN Panel to IPS 300nits (FHD 1920x1080) the overall viewing not as bad or too dim, the colors still consider rich. Battery life fully charged can last 5 to 8 hours not an issue, there is depends how you usage or do installation / windows updating to drain more battery. Keyboard feel for X Series is the best part, even tho my P1 β Gen 2 keyboard not as good as X395. X395 - Fingerprint is so accurately than my previous X1 Carbon 6th Gen, most of the time have to reset , cause canβt detected my fingerprint during the windows updated.
The rest have to find out and input in future again.
Part 2 reported today.

Yesterday Iβm Super happy with AMD performance, cause no issue to handling with autodesk Revit model.
The battery life keeps more than 10 hours to go. X395 fully charged bring to outdoor can almost forget the powerbank as well.

Actually AMD Ryzen Pro 3500U can handles many heavy softwares such as autodesk and design software as well as programming software. AMD processor fan rarely to kick in, this is quiet, really feels like using ipad or those tablet. Keyboard are nice, IPS 300nits are great colors also lightweight can carry everywhere if you wanna do presentation. Ya, forget to add on an even 16gb onboard at 2400MHz Ram speed still feeling much better than my previous X1 Carbon 6th at 2133MHz only, at least multi tasking has not issue like X1 C6. Sound speaker is louder than my ex X1 C6 Gen. Iβm very satisfied of the sounds.
I love this machines so much πππ I told myself my next laptop probably is AMD ThinkPad Again for the 3rd Gen or 4th Gen AMD APU.
Haha, temporary just forget I had my P1 Gen 2 workstation at home.

Actually AMD Ryzen pro speed is good than enough without any issue like cpu fan kick in all the times. Cause nobody wish their laptop to become very warm after usage an hour.
Other than weight, any opinions on T495 vs X395? π€π€
T495 comes with extra ram slot for you to add or when you customise can do upgrade at same time for Max 32gb or get 3700U onboard 8gb + 16gb ram. Vs X395 Max 16gb Ram onboard.
Display size 14inch for T495 while the X395 just 13.3inch. T495 has 400nits display while the X395 just 300nits for FHD.
The rest all same.
Ya one more thing is T495 without backlit keyboard only.

Well I haven't used a laptop for quite some time. More of a desktop user. But now for my office I need something that's small as there's not much space to put a desktop.
Bought a dell inspiron in July but the display was so poor that I can't stand using even just for Web browser work. It was a ryzen 3, 4gb ram 1tb hdd, and some display probably inherited from the 2000s. hurts my eye when looking at it. Very lag even just for Web browsing.. Had it returned for refund. Then wen laptop-less and started to look around for other options.
Saw Benefon's thread at /k, and thought hey why I don't I try this. Used a coupon (forgot which one) but after adding ryzen 5 and the 250 nits display, came to about rm2500 (I checked today the same spec will come to around rm3400)
Can't be happier with my purchase. My first time owning a computer with ssd. My first Lenovo product as well. I'm really loving it.
In retrospect, I should have just added more RAM probably to 16gb and the display to multi touch. Maybe I didn't want to over commit due to just start new business.
My ratings for my T495: 1. Ergonomics 7/10: touchpad responsive, not the best keyboard I've tried on. maybe need some getting used to 2. Display 8/10. on the IPS wit 250 nits option, looks like something from the yesteryear but not to bad. at least it doesn't hurt my eyes. 3. Performance 10/10: for what I need to use for, I give this full marks. 4. Value for money 10/10. No further comments.
Thanks a lot for your contribution ππ Great reviews
x1 extreme more right? i see x1 extreme 2 slot for harddisk...
seems like p1 gen 2 also got 2 ssd
its like dell xps 15 and dell precision 5530 la right? abang and adik
Gen 1 no longer available, just look on Gen 2. Both machines are the same, comes with 2 ram slot and 2 PCIe slot. Only the X1 extreme come with GeForce graphic while to P1 for workstation configuration with Quadro graphics
Got some funny issue when I tried to install latest version of MS office. I tried to uninstall all other versions by right clicking and uninstall them, but this Word app keeps appearing on the start menu. Tried to press uninstall, go to add/remove programs and see nothing there, add/remove apps also not there. Tried looking at start menu shortcuts in explorer and couldn't find it.
Have you fully windows updating done? Such win 1903 Version Even tho Lenovo vantage software?
