I have an spare xbox360 which had some problem with its dvd drive and it has already expire from warranty so i though i'll just open it up.

I Did this because the dvd drive sometimes would come on, sometimes won't. Meaning it won't be detected by the box when this happen. It won't even eject like there is no power.

So I open up the drive and found that everything was actually ok. My question is if the firmware chip is dying, will this cause the dvd drive to not able to power on?I cant find any article on which part that govern this problem so any sifu here would give some insight~

thanks~ notworthy.gif notworthy.gif

There's no such thing as the firmware is dying. Mechanical parts yes.
