Ok, I need to ask where to buy dog clothes. I know we have been through this discussion before but I was not paying enough attention.
I am looking for 3 - 4 clothes: 1. Army wear 2. Mr. Bee wear 3. Chinese New Year wear 4. Sports Jersey For my 9 months old, West Highland Terrier, Casper. This post has been edited by Pennywise: Jul 15 2007, 02:06 AM |

Ok I have a serious problem.
Today I was playing with Casper, teaching him play-dead. When he rolled on the floor, I noticed he has bruises near his private part, near his balls and the back legs there. Then I searched elsewhere for more bruises and saw many more smaller patches on his stomach and chest. Then I remembered when I showered him, when his fur was wet, I saw before on his back. I doubt he did it to himself because if he could do to the belly area, how to do to their backs right? I dont think my maid mistreat him either. Is this because the food is not compatible for him? I am feeding Orijen for now but I had no idea his bruises was all over him. When I touched it and peel off the bruise skin, he does not seem to be in pain. Is this normal? Skin drop? Food not ngam? Whats the matter ah? Can anyone advice? |

I need serious help here. My dog has a skin problem so we went to a vet. The vet gave us 3 medication.
1. Fungus 2. Allergy 3. Antibiotics Thing is, he hate those medicine. If mix in his food also he will not finish it. He will specifically spit those medicine out. I had to wrestle him, open his mouth and then force him eat it which often gag him is what I hate most. For the past one week, we have been feeding it nothing but Orijen. However, we dont see any improvements. I think for now, I would like to say Orijen could be the culprit since Casper is a westie, a double coated pup which Orijen's 70% meat causes it to be too heaty for him? Anyway, I am switching back to Eaglepack this weekend. The last puppy pack for him before he turns 1 at Oct. I hope the rashes on his body will go away. Poor furkid, dont have treats (biscal, dentastix, greenies, milk powder etc) all taken away. Question for today: 1. How old should I feed him milk powder until? 2. My pup is 10 months old and he has had Nutri Source, Eaglepack and Orijen but now going back to Eaglepack. Is that OK to change 3 brands since birth? 3. What are the possible causes of rashes on dogs? We shower him twice a week now so he'd feel better and cleaner. 4. HOW DO I GET HIM TO EAT HIS MEDICINE?! |

Hun,
The reason why I switch from Eaglepack to Orijen is because he was not eating for days. Yes, Casper is a very picky doggy!! Anyway, thanks for your advice Hun. It helps, as always. I will look out for that syringe. Ok, I will also stop giving milk powder. By the way, what do you mean when you say soft-sweet-bread? Please clarify with pict / price preferably. I plan to get it tomorrow. So far, I have been feeding him medicine by forcing him to eat it but some times I tercekik him, gagged him, worried. It also get harder each day, hence I think its better I put it in some food. I will try to include it in some Caesar. Yes, you are right, the vet is unsure. angelgurl_nee, Ok, I will take your advice for it... THank you! May I just ask, where is that good vet you mentioned? QUOTE(crazymouse_yyh @ Jul 31 2007, 12:44 AM) Well.... if you have eaten any bread that is soft and taste a bit sweet, you can use that. Sometimes I buy potato bread from the bakery.... but any bread that is soft and taste a bit sweet will do. It should NOT be chocolate cream, right? I know chocolate are harmful to animals but so far, my dog dont like bread. Gardenia white loaf bread does not work with him. He like to smell and waste but not eat them.I bet Casper won't even touch Addiction if he smells it hahaha.... coz my Chelsea won't. Anyway, I don't know if Pet Safari still sell it or not but I remember seeing the syringe sold there. I once had one, got it from a vet in Subang.... I think it was Mayo clinic.... it was easy to feed pills with that syringe. Added on July 31, 2007, 12:46 amAnother reason why must be soft and a bit sweet... soft so that you can easily roll the pill with the bread and make it like a small ball. Sweet is so that it covers up the smell of the tablet as well as acts like glue so the ball won't fall apart. I need to find something tasty, meanwhile tmr I will wrap his medicine with Caesar dog food, bit by bit. Damn!! Hopefully I can trick him to eat it... That syringe thing is badly needed. Mayo clinic at Subang, near where? Can have some directions / pointers? I will go there buy tomorrow. |

QUOTE(^MochI^ @ Jul 31 2007, 12:54 AM) Mochi, thank you very much. I think I will go get it from 1U soon then!! The syringe is badly needed.QUOTE(crazymouse_yyh @ Jul 31 2007, 01:00 AM) Oh, chocolate is a no for dogs hahaha... Yea I also think Caesar is very soft, thats why I hope can somehow tipu him to eat it. When you said mix the oats, do you mean uncook oats or at least boil them?Well, if your Casper don't like bread, you can use Caesar but then Caesar is very soft.... you will have to make it sticky and slightly solid as if it were Plasticine hahaha. You can add some oats into the canned food, mix it and cover up the pill. Mayo Clinic is near Taipan.... but I am not sure if they still have that syringe since it came with the meds and that was like 2 years ago hehehe.... but you can call them first. The number is on the vet list. I was about to say cheese but then I remembered the vet I go to said that some meds cannot be mixed with dairy products.... Dont need to get a Mayo clinic anymore since Mochi said that Pets Wonderland has it. Thanks Hun. QUOTE(lilcatty @ Jul 31 2007, 01:16 AM) Pennywise: I see Nutro's Lamb & Rice quite good, lovely smell and my furkid love it! even though i've changed from Innova to Nutro, just the first few times and he can totally eat without mixing them already.. Is Nutro hollistic? I dont want to go back to premium brand. I just wanna stick with hollistic. Oh well, if Casper dont like eaglepack, I guess its no harm to try. I was seriously hoping that he'd like Orijen but unexpectedly it gave him so much trouble. However, it's still not concluded that the rashes are due to orijen, I just assume so because after one week of medication, no improvement.maybe u can try let him try Nutro? it's good for their coat |

QUOTE(joanalooidog @ Jul 31 2007, 09:26 AM) oh, recently so many pups got skin problem hor....My shih tzu also got it, been to the vet, hope will recover. The vet also not sure about the problem, wat he do is give watever is possible, change food, give antibiotics, anti-allergy pills, antibiotic cream, plus a jab. Hi Joanalooidog,She got red spots with no pus over her body. The weird part is the spots only can be found on her body, not under her tummy. The spots covered by hair, hard to find them and apply cream...... Last time my pup dun hv this problem, but after i swtiched her to Eagle PAck holistic chicken(not saying that this brand is no good)....dunno whether is this the cause, but her pack has finished, now back to BW. After finish this BW puppy, will change to BW lamb and rice. Pennywise: the pill syringe ah, for ur info, the pet shop at TMn Megah there got sell. But i din buy also. I mix the pill together with her kibbles. Wat i do is I'll add a bit supplement, like nutristat or nutrigel on it. Squeeze some on it so that it stick the pill and kibbles together, then my pup will wallop everything. U can try though......... Another thing is u can try royal canin kibbles for allergy skin(recommend by the vet, but i din buy also), i think contains no corn and chicken, main ingredient is fish.....around Rm66 per 2kg pack. Smells nice too. Thank you for your advice. I so happen to have NutriStat at home but never thought of the idea. Thanks for sharing. My vet has told me not to give him anything besides the kibble to narrow down the possibility of the cause that is giving him rashes. I think I will give it a shot with NutriStat since I have not fed him with it in a long time (so its not a possible cause). Yea, its hard to apply cream for them because its on their back where all the fur is covered, especially true if your dog has double coat like my Casper, a westie. |

Today I went to Seapark Pet Supplies. Because Casper didnt really like Eaglepack, and now he has some rashes after eating Orijen, we switched onto Evanger, recommended by the aunty there.
Anyone here tried Evanger before? Any feedbacks? Apparently the hand-packed food looks delicious, really prepared very yummily like human-food. Chicken drumstick with carrots, peas and pasta. Fuhhhh... QUOTE(White Palace @ Jul 31 2007, 11:22 PM) Glad to hear that it works. Yea, I have yet to bring Casper for a second opinion. I just showered him and apparently his back got better but his front still has little rashes so I took a daring move today to groom him on my own! Cut all his tummy hair short!! Poor thing, there were even blood patches at some part. I hope this gives him more wind, more air, more comfortable in case all these while he has been feeling hot.Pennywise, I would suggest you to get a second opinion, cause the vet seems uncertain. If it is due to fungus, then the vet definitely know it is fungus but nothing else. But if it is due to allergy, then it will never be fungus. QUOTE(Syrian @ Aug 1 2007, 11:42 AM) prepare the frontline spray thingy ... u mean when it kenak, then baru spray. Or even if din kenak, I can also spray him as prevention ??? Or maybe I can get tick collar and put it on him 24 hours ?? Yes, you can spray also for prevention. My vet has adviced me to spray frontline on my furkid every month one time. I think it's a good way to prevent ticks from climbing aboard.QUOTE(Digitral @ Aug 1 2007, 12:09 PM) hmm i dun suggest tick collar . because tick collar will make ur furkid more tired and dry up their hair . or maybe in case hepy accidentially bite the tick collar then will cause danger too. anyway prepare the frontline spray or frontline spot on just in case ur hepy really got kutu . But u can spray it before bring ur hepy to garden to prevention flea and tick. Now really a tick season , if bring dog to grassy area have to more careful . What is a spot-on? What's a frontline spot-on? Pill or plaster? I have been using Frontline spray so that's about all that I know on Frontline products. Oh yea, another thing to point out in their product feature - PRICEY!!QUOTE(nairud @ Aug 1 2007, 12:12 PM) Frontline is useless to me. Where to get industrial strength tick medication ah?I'd go get the industrail strength tick medication and use it. better. 1 droplet, one pail of water. spray all over the house and onto the dogs. lol QUOTE(Syrian @ Aug 1 2007, 12:21 PM) even if the dog doesn't have any ticks, also can spray ?? Won't harm the dog itself ma ?? No, I dont think it will harm. Prevention is always better than cure.nairud, whr can i get the one u mentioned and how much is it ? QUOTE(White Palace @ Aug 1 2007, 04:19 PM) Well, frontline spot on is very effective, but the chemical is strong, so unless your dog really infected by ticks, else you might reconsider to use it as prevention. Once a month should be OK right? Anyway, my case is as per recommended by my vet. So far, 10 months, OK, no problem. I bring him out at least twice a week to the field, road, sand, water, etc. Every terrain and so far, so good. What i always recommend for prevention is "Zero Flea" spot on, it is safe even on humans, it is more for prevention though, meaning if you bath the dog, the effectiveness will reduce while for frontline, it wont. So it really depends on the owner which one they want, a harmless one or lasting one. If interested in the product, do PM me for more info. What's Zero Flea spot-on? QUOTE(^MochI^ @ Aug 1 2007, 05:49 PM) So the conclusion is.. Mochi's summary!! Nice!If u intend to bring ur dog out to the garden/park/ any GRASSY area.. Use frontline (SpRAY) and spray on the dog b4 bringing it out to the places above. Yes/No ? If ur dog is infested with ticks/fleas, Use frontline (SpOT ON) cause its effective and the chemical is strong, NEVER USE AS pREVENTION. Yes/No ? If Not bringing the dog anywhere, juz staying at home, Theres no need to spray Frontline (spray) on the dog. Coz simply spraying will harm the dog. Yes/No ? Keeping the house clean and dog's sleeping area clean and dry will keep the ticks/fleas away Yes/No ? Staying at above the ground, which means if staying at 8th floor will ticks/fleas able to find their way up ? Yang- "ZERO FLEA" The brand is frontline? |

Question 1: Anybody has comment on Evanger dog food?? Apparently, it's new in Malaysia or so I heard from the lady at Seapark Pet Supplies. My doubts are so high that my Evanger dog food is still unopened and I have a feeling to go back to Eaglepack Lamb or something else cause I've never even heard of Evanger.
Since birth, Casper has had: 1. Pro Plan from breeder 2. Nutrisource as breeder recommended 3. Eaglepack when I decided to go for Hollistics but he didnt like 4. Orijen which is the possible cause of the rashes on his body 5. Evanger, which is recommended to me today as an alternative when I wanted to purchase back to Eaglepack Question 2: Over the span of 10 months old, my dog has gone through 5 different brands, is it harmful for them? I was told that if I change gradually, its fine but some say that keep-changing brand is NOT fine. So I dont know who to trust. Please advice. Question 3: My furkid is 10 month old, can he start with adult dog food? Or should he still stick with another pack of puppy food before changing? QUOTE(jaunty_niel @ Aug 1 2007, 06:29 PM) how much u bought the Evanger's dog food? Chicken with Brown Rice dry dog food. RM37 for 2kg... expensive!! I went to look for dog food review, most people still vote Orijen for #1 and Innova for #2 dog food in the world.brown rice with pheasant, chicken, or..? 1. i think its new here, so no reviews yet.. 3. yes, it can cause him 2 hv tummy upset. 4. i started jack2 wif lamb and rice since he was 5months old.. dats consider adult food rite? QUOTE(wjie20 @ Aug 1 2007, 06:45 PM) for Question 1...i dont know sorry...and i dont get what Question is Question 2 asking... Sorry #2 is not a question but more like what he has had throughout his life of 10 months.for the 3rd- Changing brands would not harm the dog, unless those brands are not very safe...but knowing the 4 brands you have used...it should be ok... 4th question..refer Here |

QUOTE(angelgurl_nee @ Aug 1 2007, 07:27 PM) I think we can easily bargain the price of Orijen from Sea Park Pet Supplies. If I am not mistaken, the last time I asked the Orijen for puppy is RM42 only for 2.5kg.Why it's #1? I think its because they believed that dogs are carnivorous and dogs are descendent of wolves. Hence a lot of meat would do them more good than other brands which mix and match with rice and grains. Orijen is 70% meat, 30% fruits, vege, etc. This made it popular in this I agree it should but then I think it turns out to be too heaty for my furkid, Casper and he started to have rashes because dogs dont know heaty = drink water. Hence, my theory of my furkid rash rooted from Orijen as well. Anyway, I see improvements now so I think I will continue to feed it Orijen or move onto Innova. I will not buy Eaglepack anymore as they are overrated and most of the time, you dont even see it coming in top ten of dog food reviews. |

Guys and Gals,
Today, I personally groomed my furkid. It was quite nicely done except for some parts, cut until like lubang lubang like that. I was just using a normal scissors. Where can I find a grooming scissors? Or a hair-dresser scissors? Or better yet, anyone knows where I can get cheap dog-shavers or if human shaver can be used (those hair-dresser ones, not janggut ones), please let me know. Ooo... I feel I just saved RM70!! This weekend, going back to Seapark Pet Supplies to change the Evanger dog food to Innova instead. QUOTE(Digitral @ Aug 1 2007, 09:50 PM) pennywise , Yes, I agree.
