I also small kid that time too but I remember because after that case my parents were extremely cautious for a few months. Cannot walk to school or go out play alone. It was huge in the 80's but died down because unsolved. I still remember seeing the Chinese newspaper where they reported her parents dress her in red during her funeral. There were rumors that it was done by a drug addict and the drug addict killed himself because being haunted by her. Not many people remember because it was pre-internet era.

There was also another case where an Indian Methodist Girls schoolgirl was raped and killed. It was also a huge case and I think it is also still unsolved today.

Its a Chinese believe that if someone is buried in red, he/she will turn into a very angry and revengeful ghost.

I remember reading that her parents decline to accept that the body was of her because the teeth werent the same. Then later they found out that the teeth moved because she was gritting her teeth so hard because of the pain that she had to endure; prove that she is still alive when all sort of thing were inserted to her private part.
