Perhaps the ac is just responding on posts here, which's less active here (and there's also the ac joined lowyat last month).

Speaking of signal strength and satellite dishes, do we still need a license for satellite dish installation other than the Astro family of providers? (for C and Ku band)

PS: Congrats of Sirius TV getting the first signals on the air thumbup.gif

Also, would like to ask:

Does the final official box is limited to just Sirius TV reception like Astro or just a normal receiver with encryption decoder to decode Sirius?

Also (yeah probably the last post in the chain), I think Sirius (or we in this forum) should have a FAQ section for new customers for answers for these common questions.

Some features of this STB is interesting...

1. You can have your own channels into it (by way of Auto/TP/Blind Scan features)?

2. Does the PVR record encrypted video like Astro to USB storage?

3. What's the use of the small headphone-style jack on the back? Is it for IR input or composite+audio out?

Extra question (reposted for visibilty and can't find a conclusive answer by google):

4. Do we need license/authorization for installing a satellite (either C and/or Ku band) for non-Astro/Measat/Connectme/Myfreeview DTH use? I'm bit curious on this due to crackdowns by MCMC of said equipment.

Looks like sirius is using 4:3 style subtitles on GEM, i wonder why? Since most TVs nowadays is already 16:9. I assume its some kind of legacy compatibility like what Mediacorp did with their subtitles on Singapore DTT.

Yeah, why they use 4:3 subs in the first place though?

Yeah, they probably just left it there and let that be that, similar to like what Mediacorp did. But still, i think if the channel is HD widescreen from the get go (when the service started as a whole or in a new platform), the subs should be the same aspect ratio aswell (goes with GEM and Mediacorp).

Good thing to see providers are actively picking up the public's opinions...

Here's some of my suggestions:

1. Add channel numbers and some descriptions to channel list on website

2. Give more information/specs for the equipment and the hardware etc. on website

3. Also there's a section called Sirius Music on your website. What is it and could we see an in house radio channel featuring music under the banner?

Here's my 2sen. Hope to see the future of Sirius getting brighter with the in house content... thumbup.gif

I wonder when the trial broadcast would end and official launch along with encryption with ACAS (presumably because its from ABV) would start?

So they're relaying a satellite with a satellite then?
