1. In the UK it's 1.6mm - is there any law about it in Malaysia?

2. Does anyone have direct experience of Malaysian insurance companies refusing to pay out on an accident claim because of worn tyres? Not hearsay, direct experience.

NB: I'm very well aware of the grave dangers of driving with bald tyres - no need to repeat all that. In fact, I'm trying to convince my friend to replace his tyres before he has a bad accident, so it would be useful ammo if someone can answer the questions above.
