I had owned a Myvi before. Good to be used within city centre and around villages when the drive is slow.

However I feel insecure on the highway.

1. The braking distance is far
2. It is easily swayed by the air pressure caused by overtaking vehicles
3. The steering wobbles during braking
4. The back brakes failed to work and my mechanic could not determine what is the cause.
5. The sound insulation is bad
6. The suspension system is flimsy.

Even tank is not safe when hit by lorry. biggrin.gif

Looks like people think that Jazz or Hyundai i10 is safer than MyVi laugh.gif

An article in 2018 mentioned that for the frontal impact test, the Myvi scored higher marks than even Honda CR-V. blink.gif

Stop the production of MyVi and discontinue the sales of its spare parts. Then everyone is safe.

I had owned a Myvi before. Good to be used within city centre and around villages when the drive is slow.

However I feel insecure on the highway.

1. The braking distance is far

I just changed the disc & pads recently. I can assure you 90% Myvi owners don't know the brake fluid needs to be changed every brake pad change. And 2mm wear on disc is not an excuse to skim and reuse. Total cost of 2 TRW brand disc & original Perodua pads, RM320.

2. It is easily swayed by the air pressure caused by overtaking vehicles

Its only 1 ton in weight and quite tall car. What do you expect?

3. The steering wobbles during braking

Warped disc. Refer answer #1.

4. The back brakes failed to work and my mechanic could not determine what is the cause.

Then you have a lousy mechanic. Consider asking second opinion and with better skill & equipment.

5. The sound insulation is bad

If you have the cheapest model, it does not come with those sound dampening pieces. This car is not going to be Rolls Royce even if you dump RM2000 worth of insulation material in it.

6. The suspension system is flimsy.

160000km, and the Myvi i am driving is still on its first set of dampers. You think the other 99% Myvi owners would change it if physically it did not show leak or exhibit extreme bouncing on road undulations?

Getting better looking, better quality, better equipment also not really good now. Buyers habits are changing. They want more bigger sized cars for cheap. So Proton might overtaking Perodua soon. Whats more people are spending more prudently now. So a cheaper bigger Saga is more better money spent than a Myvi.

I also own a Myvi for 9 years already.
I agree with all you statements above. It's almost a perfect car for city if driven decently.
I'd like to also add on the good points.

1. Very reliable.
2. Cheap to run.
3. Spare parts widely and easily available.
4. Spare parts are cheap.
5. Any workshop will be able to service the car.

Myvi Ezi 2008. All 4 dampers never changed. Physical examination no leaks. Its not even loose if you shake the car in stationary position. But when you drive a little harder on the corners the car leans quite a bit because the dampers have weakened. If you yank the steering left and right quickly, the car weight distribution is easily messed up. That is when crash happens. laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif

I've experienced this. On wet road, i run over a speed bump at around 30kmh-50kmh. After that, my brake become loose, need to press deep to function normally. I really thought my brake kaput already. Once arrived at home, it tried press brake repeatedly several times and my brake suddenly become normal again.

I HAD THE EXACT SAME ISSUE WITH MYVI 2014, did u guys repaired it ? what part is malfunctioning ?
*
It happened a few years ago. I send to the workshop, which swapped a used one with mine but it didn't solve the problem. So I reinstalled my brakes.

I was determined to know why, drove to a deserted road, speed up to 50km/h and braked hard till feel the ABS pumping. After few times, I was confident the brakes were fine.
