Hi, went back hometown for the long weekend and found out my small workshop padlock is broken. Might not be someone break it as the heavy rain recently might caused it since the lock is old. Nothing was stolen.

This raise a question, inside the workshop is a few electrical components where people gave us to dispose of and we try to fix it and sell/re-use it. The problem some of them are in very bad condition and the live wire is exposed. We use high voltage gloves and necessary safety precautions when working with these equipment.

The question is let's say a thief break in into my workshop, and stole a defective TV. Thief plugged it into his mains and proceed to die from electrical shock. I have CCTV footage of the thief broke in and stole my defective TV. Will I be held accountable if the TV is traced back to me ? Can the dead thief family sue me for his death ?

if you kept the faulty tv under key and lock then you've performed duty of care.

WTH man. Logic la. Its just products. But the laws may change if lets say you kept poison or imitation milk powder. Some fella stole those products and sells it. Obviously they will kena. And probably poked on until they reveal where they got it. Which would eventually come to you. Now that you would have a lot to answer for.

If an inanimate object like bikes, cars, TV, phones, etc, if they misuse its none of your concern. You have police report (if you did so) to back your story.

But as usual la, there is still there CORRUPT sentiment for all our goverment servants. The ones that deal with people grievances and misfortunes more than any other Gov agency is definitely the police force. And they are also the easiest to succumb to corruption.

In your case it should not worry you at all if they got killed doing stupid shit with your spare parts. If they got killed doing stupid shit in your premise, maybe there is something to answer for if the people related to them want to profit off their lost ones misfortune on you.

Else i would not think about it. Else make a police report. Its bloody free anyway.

Also as reference, metal thieves steal cable from TNB all the time. Some of them get fried to crisps. And TNB is not liable for their stupidity at all.
