Now i'm scare to buy used car. Actually i'm still surveying car to buy (used car) only.
How do we protect ourself from buying kereta potong? Does used car allow buyer to send car for puspakom? Probably yes if paid in cash, what about loan laugh.gif

First red flag: Car below market price
Second red flag: Seller settle all fees despite car being sold cheaper than market
Third red flag: Payment in full before transfer name

This classic case of not being a smart consumer, not matter buying car, washing machine or night stand.

Agree. I think since buyer bought cash, should always insist on doing the puspakom process himself. Can't trust anyone these days sad.gif

Outside Puspakom so many runners. All offering the same services.

Puspakom personnel also human. Corruption is normal.

If you are looking for 2nd hand, be nice to your mechanic and ask him to find for you.

He would have checked all the things and such or buy from a man you know very well.

Even cars from some of the famous used cars can be damaged via accidents. (Coz depends on your definition of allowable accidents,)

Why don't TS go to puspakom and ask them why they approve the car when it is kereta potong? Puspakom should bear the responsibility because they simply approve the car.

If possible, go for a reputable and well established used car dealer.

The possibility of kereta potong is lower although not non-existent.

By knowing how to check yourself or having someone who can help do it for you and also tagging along to go to Puspakom (and observe what they do, not just sit in the waiting area)
If you want easy way, just pay money to people and they settle everything for you, then better you buy new car.

When you send a car to Puspakom for their inspection service, you're forced to sign a Letter of Indemnity.

Without looking at the letter of indeminty, I am assuming it only applies to the inspection of the car. I think in TS case it might not apply because a potong car cannot possibly get approved if the inspector is doing his/her job. So this might be debatable. This is the case of puspakom not doing their job.

that is why u need to check the car first...not pay it blindly despite he/she is well known person.
check until u satisfied, then pay. u can grab the plate number and check the mileage at the sc. apart from the service history.

be smart.
