In April of 2007, NVIDIA launched 3 new products, GeForce 8600GTS/8600GT/8500GT,
not only to segment a different target market from 8800GTX/8800Ultra
but also take over the current market for GeForce 7900GS/7600GT/7300GT

In these months, mostly we can find the reviews of 8600GTS,
the top level of the series but it did not win much admire for
higher street price but common performance...

Let's have a different main dish today, ELSA GLADIAC 860GT PH2,
the overclock version.
The standard frequency of NVIDIA GeForce 8600GT original design is
540/700MHz
The frequency of ELSA GLADIAC 860GT PH2 is 600/800MHz

The main differences of 8600GT and 8600GTS are Core/Memory frequency,
PCB and independent power supply.
Because of these 2 models are in the same NVIDIA G84 technology, it is
possible to enable 8600GT the same performance as 8600GTS if in high
quality materials and critical fine-tune.

The key point is that 8600GT is much cheaper than 8600GTS...
At present time, 8600GTS is more expensive than 7900GS but the
performance is close to 7900GS
I think most people will not be convinced to have a 8600GTS...

On the contrary, it is reasonable for a high quality 8600GT to take over 7600
GT's market even enabled high performance, close to 8600GTS and 7900GS.
I think 8600GT is enabled much more C/P value than 8600GTS and 8500GT.

ELSA GLADIAC 860GT PH2 is equipped with high quality cooling system and
GDDR3 Memory, the common component applied on 8600GTS, and enabled OC
performance but the street price is only about USD$ 10 higher than other
competitors.

It enhanced ELSA GLADIAC 860GT PH2 more competitive in mid level VGA market smile.gif

Elsa is quite famous but not here. Their card has one of the best after-market cooler i have seen thus far. They always use Zerotherm, CM, Zalman or their own personal cooler. Very nice card indeed...

Yea, seems really good card. What i am more interested is, how well does the Zerotherm cooler performs on this card..

OKish NFS:carbon fraps. but what type of fps do you get when you get out of the garage lol. Also no AA/AF enabled?

Ya would be nice to know how noisy and hot it gets when overclocked with that cooler compared to other cards.

AFAIK, this cooler performs really well on my cousin's 7600GS. Getting roughly about 36 - 40c on his 7600GS but not sure how well it could perform in comparison with the stock 8600GT cooler. This Zerotherm is also roughly the same performance as the GX810 as well. Beautiful cooler indeed...

This is the per-overclocked version of the 8600GT if Im not mistaken ASUS also released one but the 8600GTS called 8600GTS TOP performance also quite impressive but its pricey for a GTS almost selling for $1000 here. sweat.gif

Even when OC combine with highly overclock E6700 the 3Dmark performance just a little bit better when compare to my rig. I just hate the crippled 128bit bus though. Hope nVidia will release another upper mid-range, maybe 8900GS.

hmm.gif looking at the appearance it looks much more like Taiwanese manufacturer style. Usually western brand such as XFX really make good looking card in every segment.

The reason XFX looks cool to me is because of their Black PCB. However, they doesnt come paired with a cool looking aftermarket HSF though..lol..

Well, i got both the GX810 and GX710 (owned by my cousin). Anyway, both come with slightly different features :

GX810 - With LED light, automatic fan controller. Very easy to assemble and come with both Xfire/SLI compatible mounting. What this means is that they include 2 different type of screws to mount the cooler. One is those big thumb screw for easy installation (Really very easy) and another type is smaller type so it wont block another card during SLI/Xfire.

GX710 - No LED, no automatic fan controller. Only one type of screw available and cant be switch to another direction. Must be only in one direction or else, it clashes with alot of stuff...

Both of them are really quite. Cant even hear any noise from the cooler itself. Looks wise, i am really satisfied (the reason i get the cooler ini the first place)..

Anyway, performance wise, to be honest, there is not much difference between the GX810 and GX710. Even though the GX810 is BIGGER than the GX710, the performance are roughly the same. Not sure about Zalman cause i drop that idea after i get the Zerotherm. If compared to stock Palit/Galaxy cooler, it almost make a drastic drop of 6 - 8c of the card. My 7300GT was idling at about 55c when on stock cooler and it went to 46 - 48c when i change to Zerotherm. Very nice cooler indeed.

Thats why i am saying its nice to see Zerotherm cooler on Elsa products. They are solid performers even though it might not look/known as one..

Yea, Euro product.. heh, very famous at one time esp. during Geforce2 -3 era. This reminds me Creative used to make their own 3Dcard too.. lol tongue.gif

If not mistaken, ELSA company was having a bad time and near to bankruptcy, they had shutdown abt all other HQs other then their own country... at the end.. it seems they managed to keep it alive... sweat.gif

I was panic when i remember when that i juz bought ELSA Geforce3ti200 and i heard that news... another cool thing ELSA warranty oso good, 3years like Asus does.

Anywayz, the 860GT looks really good there, esp. using zeroTHERM aftermarket coolers.

Cheers smile.gif
