Raster =/= vector
You will need to make it into vector to be able change the color |

Or u can do it the hard way, use the pen tool, zoom in all the way and make the part u want into vector

u need to convert into vector first. The easier way click on the image, Object, Image Trace, Make And Expand. AFter that then u can change the color then remove which part u don't need. Normally those image wont be that smooth, u still need to repair by ur own

Easiest way is to open the file first in Photoshop, then export (save as) it as SVG or EPS file. Then open it back in Illustrator.

You'll need to convert the artwork into a vector first. There's an option at the top for you to do this. It's called Image Trace. You can even pick from the drop down beside it, to set the quality of the trace. After AI is done tracing, you can click on the image again, you will see that Image trace option is not there anymore but there is an Expand option. The Expand button sets the points on the vector so you can edit the points with a pentool.
