I was just wondering, what guitar+pickups should i get the get close to Slash's tone? The whole thing should be under RM2500.

And yeah, don't include the amp because i'm already getting one. I'm going to be getting a Randall RG50TC, so i guess the amp part is settled. I know it might not be the best amp to get Slash's tone, but i need it for my band because we play Metallica and all. Thanks in advance guys.

Haha, what's the difference between the Epi LP Standard and Custom? Besides, i heard that that because the Standard has a mahogany/alder body, it won't give you the Gibson-ish tone. Is it true?

Btw, if i do get the Standard LP, would i need to do any mods or will the pickup swap be enough? Thanks for any input.

PS; Heard a lot about Agile guitars too. But i don't really know much about them.

So far, that should be fine......

Of course, it would sound EXACTLY like Slash, but pretty damn close.....

I came across this axe man, and it has pretty good features for the price. What do you think? Although it has Alnico V instead of Alnico II pickups. But i guess the tax and shipping cost would make it more expensive then the Epi LP Standard + Alnico 2 pickups which i can get locally.

But would the stock Agile or the Epi LP Standard+Alnico 2 be a better deal?
Would the Agile cost more after it goes through customs and all man?

I haven't heard about them, only know about the Fernandes Sustainer. Which shops can i go to test the Fernandes LP out man?

I think if the Fernandes doesn't really do it for me, it'll just be a coin toss between:

Agile AL-3000
http://www.rondomusic.net/al3000csbslim.html

Epi LP Standard + Alnico 2 Pro pickup swap
http://www.zzounds.com/item--EPILPSTD
http://www.zzounds.com/item--SEMAPH1B

Unless i get enough suggestions on which one of the 2 choices i should get... hmm.gif

I PERSONALLY would go for the Epiphone....... because I'm such a Gibson/Epi whore.......

But I'm sure the Agile would have better workmanship then a china made Epi......

If it's a KOREAN Epi however........ now that makes all the difference.

you wont be able to get Agile guitars anywhere near here.
Standard and Custom are basically similar apart from cosmetics.
the Custom Plus tho has a maple neck, like the ZW model.
gives it extra snap.

both should be able to get close to the gibson sound, but not with the crappy epi pickups.
its the mass of the guitar that contributes quite a bit too.

Epi's have no such thing.
my Custom Plus neck is somewhere in between a 50s and 60s.
i've tried MIC LPs with thinner necks too.

LPs feel funny with 60s necks, like a complete mismatch.
thin neck, heavy body.
and the sound is also different, since some weight has been lost from the neck.

Ha. Our resident Gibson/Epiphone expert rings in! Yeah.... the Epiphone, no matter how much flak they get..... It's still an epiphone and go through a slightly stricter quality control.......

But the China factories these days......... urgh.........

Haha, thanks for all your help guys. I think i'll go for the Epi LP Standard + Alnico Pro 2 pickup swap.

Which store would you recommend i go to? Hopefully somewhere where i can get a better bargain and test the guitar thoroughly. Yamaha at the Curve told me that i couldn't switch distortion on when i was testing out an Epi. I mean, wtf?? I wanna buy an axe, of course i have to test out how it sounds clean AND distorted right?? mega_shok.gif
