What do you think? My purpose would be a casual play (intermediate player) and for composing thru MIDI/USB via computer. Maybe other brand that I've missed? Thanks in advance!

Which is better do you think? At first I thought of P-45. But then after I did a couple hours of research, I found P-125 is better. Just now I found Roland. From 1.5k budget burst to 2.8k

I'd say the Yamaha. Their entry-level keyboards are better for general beginners. Roland has a touch that appeals to a more specific audience.

Can you be more specific? I read that Roland has acoustic piano feel, meaning the key is more realistic compare to Yamaha and also the Yamaha apps is always not working |

Hi, I run a music school and have sold a fair bit of those 2 products you are choosing between. Everyone's opinion can differ, but mine is that of Roland really delivers the quality that comes with the price tag. Especially in the range of Beginners - Intermediate players, those who purchase Roland electronic music instruments hardly have anything real to complain about and generally continue using them many years down the road without needing to 'upgrade'.
Roland's instruments def have a design and touch of their own which is unrivaled. Of course, this is just my view. If have the opportunity, you should find a showroom that have both available and test them out to see what you prefer. That would be most important. |

Hi TS. a few years back i was on a 88keys weighted digital piano hunt. I first discovered Yamaha P115 when i was scouting, and almost bought one. Then i found Kawai ES100 (the ES110 was not yet released that time). Both were awesome digital pianos, both can do what i needed in a unit, but i leaned more on the Yamaha.
Until i found Roland FP30 almost by accident. Beats Yamaha and Kawai on the feel part by a mile. Soundwise it can be objective (as the three units sound really good), but Roland wins this by a small margin (for me Roland > Kawai > Yamaha). So i bought this unit - no regrets. My 2 issues on my Roland: 1. Interface isn't really as user friendly as the other two - switching instruments requires pressing/holding a button and clicking certain keys, and can be troublesome without reading the manual. I guess the designers wanted the unit to have the minimalist look. 2. FP30 is quite heavy, you can really feel it but once you get used to it, it wouldnt bother you as much. On paper, it weighs 31lbs (vs Yamaha P115/P125 which weigh 26lbs). If you havent bought your piano, maybe the Kawai ES100/ES110 are both worth checking. I read a few reviews that mentioned they like the piano sounds of the Kawai a bit better than the FP30. But do note: It's always important to test these units first hand before you do the purchase. But yea i got the FP30. I love it. I have recorded a lot of stuff with it (including some songs from my band album) This post has been edited by brownman90561495: Aug 29 2019, 11:34 PM |

The FP30 costs more in there?? Here in Manila (yea im from around here the FP30 and the P115 cost pretty much the same (i even got a nice discount when I got the Roland). Not sure how P125 is priced here. For me overall, Roland is better than the Yamaha just by a bit, but the Yamaha does its job quite well. But have you got the chance to try them out? I have not try both yet but I kinda like Yamaha brand but my finger would like the Roland Really? The FP30 costs more in there?? Roland has an apps for the piano and looks quite good, at least on paper. |

I would have actually considered getting the P125 over the FP30 given that price difference. Now i understand your dilemma better LOL.I heard about the Yamaha Apps, its the worst too. Roland has an apps for the piano and looks quite good, at least on paper. I have not had the need for the apps but i have a friend who also owns an FP30 (we bought around the same week) who uses the Roland app heavily. I think he is happy with it. |

And Yamaha looks more pretty and elegant compared to Roland. Idk which to choose I have not had the need for the apps but i have a friend who also owns an FP30 (we bought around the same week) who uses the Roland app heavily. I think he is happy with it. Just need to see physically then can only decide lol I might go for Yamaha |

Idk which to choose for most purposes, what the FP30 can do, the P125 should be able to do as well. i don't think you will lose much if you choose the P125 over the FP30. Just need to see physically then can only decide lol I might go for Yamaha tell us what you think of the P125 when you get it!!! (hate to be the devil's advocate, but maybe you also wanna check Kawai ES100 or ES110) |
