Dear parents,

My wife is expecting this October and we're planning to breastfeed our baby. However in case of insufficient / no breast milk from mummy, we'll be preparing a small pack of baby formula milk as standby.

Do you have any recommendation for any formula milk for infant aged 0 - 12 months? Below 1kg should suffice. Glad if you could share the size available & standard pricing for the brand you recommend.

Suggest you to get some samples from all famous company.. Just Google.. Normally they need you to register online to get free samples.. my baby will reject some of the brand...
Just feed the baby more frequently (maybe every 2 hour for starting), rest more eat more should have enough breast milk

Do try to get some samples first. That way, you wont have to buy first, and you can see if your baby is ok with the milk powder or no

Milk companies are not allowed to give sample to consumer for formula below 1 years old. I've tried before, Morinaga, Frisolac and Similac. They couldn't give, said it's the govt regulation.

The only chance is getting them from paed at private hospital, but TS won't be seeing paed until his baby is here.

TS if your criteria is only below 1kg, then your choice is a lot - some has 400gm, 600gm, 700gm.

Nan Pro quite okay. And a lot of mummies recommended Morinaga to me.

Thanks for your reply. Yeah I've tried out a few milk company like enfagrow, abbott nutrition and they said they're not allowed to give out formula for infant below 12 months, citing gov regulation like what you have mentioned.

Anyway, I just attended a talk at my hospital and the dietician said don't have to buy formula because even if mom don't have milk, paed will prescribe and we just pay for it.

Private gynea will give out samples

Your wife must have alot of patient and believe sure got milk, slowly will gain more n more milk, must be persistent too

But since our hospital paediatrician will prescribe the most suitable formula for baby in case mummy don't have milk, I think we will hold our purchase of any formula milk for now.

Paeds will prescribe whatever he still have inside his drawer.

I see you're planning to focus on breastfeed and this is as a contingency so I would recommend morinaga BF1. The taste is claimed to be closest to breast milk. Mothers milk production could take as long as 1-2 weeks. Other formula especially Enfa are very sweet. Your baby might refuse breast milk due to formula tasting 'better'

Hey thanks for the recommendation. I've heard of this brand morinaga before but I don't recall seeing it in the mainstream super/hypermarket. Do you have any idea where is it commonly sold?

Some Aeon supermarket got carry. It's not mainstream but usually I get from those Chinese herbs shop cause it's cheaper.

Pharmacy chain like AA Pharmacy has it. Or you can buy from Lazada official Morinaga site.
