I using 5 years countryman, and 2018 cx5.
My opinion is mini give you badge, and better cornering. Thats all.
CX 5 cornering is good too, and much more comfortable.
I never drive mini to KL, but using cx5 many times.
See you value brand or comfort more.
As for reliability, 5 years already, my countryman never give any problem. I follow the services schedule.
