Model is Ncp93 (2007-2012)

Recently it gives me squeaky cracking sound on the driver side when going over bump after some distance of driving, i can confirm stabilizer bush throws the problem, because it only noisy when it is heated up,

go to Toyota SC, said need to leave the car a day to check first, cannot check on the spot, i have no time to leave the car there, so

go to check at normal workshops (2 shops), both shops said need to drop the subframe aka crossmember frame in order to replace the bushes, but they are not willing to change the stabilizer bushes only but asking me to change the stabilizer links sekali, but not using ori links. my ori links are still in good condition which i dont want get it replaced

is it replacing vios stabilizer bushes must drop the subframe first?

What is ur mileage? Normally if stabilizer bush already gone, ur lower arm bush also is time to go also. That why usually mechanic shop will propose one time do it all.

around 65k km, normal driving condition
lower arms bushes and ball joints still good, stabilizer links are also good, confirmed by both shops
just the stabilizer bushes are somehow dry and rubbing against the stabilizer bar and making the strange noise

If you want to save some money either spray some AT-205 Re-Seal or ask mechanic to apply rubber grease around the dry and rubbing area.
Sometime can solve for short term depending on luck.

i try to spray silicon spray or apply silicon grease few times already but useless, spraying and applying cant reach the inner part (surface that the rubber holding with metal bar), need to disassemble it first.

Silicon grease is different compare to real rubber grease. Use wrong type of grease will cause more sound and faster wear out the rubber parts...

TS,
Anti roll bar bushings are wear and tear items, thus should not be too difficult to remove and replace. Dropping the whole subframe is considered too illogical. Maybe you can share a picture of the bushing and its surroundings for us to help figure out.

As for using AT-205, silicone or rubber grease, it really depends on how bad the bushings have deteriorated. Once they have cracked till you can pull them apart, replacing it is the only way.

Added:
Found this NCP93 parts diagram of the front suspension, and based on the bracket position, I assume the best way is from the top (might need to remove the battery), or thru the wheel well with the splash shield removed.

the problem is that for ncp93 the stabilizer bushing is on top of the subframe. i had a look just now and maybe I can get the bushing but might need to remove the lower control arm first. to remove the control arm, will need to lower or remove the subframe. i plan to change the control arm anyway so hopefully can do both at the same time

Hi,
Did you manage to change stabiliser bush without dropping the subframe?

Where is the best place to get the original bush?
What size is the nut for the stabiliser bush?

There is no way around it. Sub frame have to be dropped to change the stabilizer bush. That's how the way it was build.

However, the reason the workshop wanted to change the stabilizer link also is because they usually work together. When one spoil the other usually also spoil. Also no double work since change together instead of paying twice to do the work. Cause in their experience, there are customers who go back complain after changing stabilizer bush got sound and link spoil and other related matter. Best to change the link also.
