You check on the supported 4G frequency bands for both huawei modems, on the packaging box or user manual, see if it supports any of the bands used by TM Unifi mobile below:

LTE FDD Band 5 (850MHz)
LTE TDD Band 38 (2600MHz) or 40 (2300MHz)

Then you know which frequency bands that unifi mobile uses in your area, as well as knowing your huawei modems supports at which frequency bands.

Unifi Mobile = Unifi Air

Nice speed, my streamyx also problem, so i test Unifi Air too.
My home town just have Band 5, so i buy simcard only.
Test near TM Bands 5 tower, can get 20mbps around.
My home 2km far from tower, 2-10mbps around.
still better than my streamyx now.
wait to get B618 and will test again.

That is why you should check what band is there using your Unifi Mobile BEBAS SIM.
If it is Band 5, better avoid it like a plague.
It is not fast at all.

Kalau kita ada 4G tapi slow, kita boleh check punca dia dgn mengenalpasti jenis signal dia, mcm saya skrg unifi mobile guna band 40, yang lagi laju dr 4G Band 5. Jenis Band bergantung pada devices yg digunakan, mcm sy guna Pixel2XL boleh capai band 40. Nak check ni boleh google spec dkt gsmarena

The specs seems the same like Huawei B618.
But dunno how the performance is less than 2x the performance of Huawei one.
I suggest if you want to get good speeds, you take SIM only pack and buy your own modem.

Usage since received (2pm+) until now.. but usage @ my current house (Gombak - Batu 4)..

Will bring this device to another house (Gombak Setia area) for testing bcause the device will fully use there.

I just hope thaf i can change the DNS to my prefered DNS (8.8.4.4 & 1.1.1.1) inside. Its only can set manually for LAN, but not for Wifi. Some forum said it can be done using putty commands.. later will do some reading..

Since using it at my current house now, im diverting all my stuff connected to this device (2 tvs, 3 laptop, 1 pc + 4 container inside (vbox), & 7 android) without a hiccup or lagging or what so ever. My current house using Unifi (800Mbps) pair with mikrotik (hAP AC2) with loads of config inside 😅

All that i can say.. this Huawei B818 is quite a stable performance.. If u guys got budget, go for this model. No regret at all.

My parent is staying at Northern Selangor kampung area which has neither streamy nor unifi, so I bought them a Huawei B818-263 4g router and unifi air sim only.

Guess what, the speed in that area for unifi air is awesome!

need what phone with the band to test out the LTE?

i have both the Huawei B168 and ZTE modem, both from TM for Unifi Air.

The ZTE speed test only 1 -2 MBps while the Huawei 15-30MBps.

Both at same location.

I am a subscriber of Unifi Air. It has been 6 months now. I was told that Unifi fiber is coming to my area in Sept 2020. If I subscribe to Unifi Fiber, woule they let me terminate Unifi Air without penalty?

update:

last week friday tm contacted me, briefed me about the termination process.
as long there's no outstanding bills, you are allowed to terminate. with condition that you have unifi fibre newly installed under same name.

for the upcoming bills, there will be penalty will be shown and the penalty will be waived on the following months.
so there will be 2 bills that you need to wait. for the final bill, u only have to pay the remainders between bill cycle and last few days before termination.

already returned the modem to tm point. only 20 minute process. hope that clarify.
