Hi guys, my place uses TV box to watch shows and sometimes when someone watches a youtube video on mobile or the laptop, the TV box gets stuck. Don't get me started for online gaming. I'm currently using 100mbps line under TIME. Will it be better if I upgrade to the 500mbps one? I think the small upgrade is better than getting Astro.

Need advice of experts.

Your case is the router cpu can't handle the traffic flow.

Go get high end router is the solution.

Yeah your TV box traffic need to consume a lot cpu process from router, so it's consider entry level router only for normal usage.

Maybe u can try look in router setting and try control the devices bandwidth and observe.

Still need a better router if many device connected. Also, do you use Wired connection for TV? Don't use wireless for the tv box.

This is literally the cheapest router possible (provided by TIME right?) Even if you change to 500Mbps will still be the same.

I am using Asus AC56U, older than C1200 but according to Unifi technician, its still better.
My family got 1desktop, 1laptop, 1ipad, atleast 4 phone connected at night, and using 100Mbps btw.

I think now many ppl recommend AC68U for great budget router

Speed will only affect to a certain extent, Youtube recommend 50Mbps for 4k streaming, Netflix recommend 25Mbps.
Other factor like router performance, TV box performance, server performance will affects your streaming.

I downgraded from 500Mbps to 100Mbps to save money since no difference between this 2 for streaming.

nice move mate, i believe drowgrading to 100 would be nice. previously i terminate the contract with maxis fibre, no choice to use 500m for the time to claim the penalty of maxis cry.gif

You may need to enable QoS function. Gives the TV the number one priority. See if that helps first. Also it's better to pull a cable, that is way better than wireless.

Hmm even 5mpbs can stream YouTube 720P without buffering. Why I know because I used Digi infinite 5mbps cap.

To be honest 100mbps is more than enough.

It’s your tv box, not router problem
I’m using the same router with 500Mbps package, upgraded from 100Mbps

I used the same stock router, was streaming 1080p from 2 phones, my desktop was streaming Spotify + online gaming, no problem

As people suggested, problem very likely isnt ur internet speed.

To be honest, even 100mbps already overkill for normal home usage..

In MY alot company still using 30mbps and lower to feed 50-90 computers.
