More review on the Thinkbook 13s. (vs the T495).
When using the ThinkBook (intel) for Chrome web browsing, i felt it performed better than the T495 (ryzen). I decided to try a benchmark for web browsing. Found one on google (If you guys know anything better let me know, i can give that a try too). True enough, the Thinkbook actually performs better than the T495 in the benchmark test.
ThinkBook 13s-IWL (i5-8265U, 8GB, 256GB SSD)
T495 (Ryzen 5 Pro 3500U, 16GB, 256GB)
Other things nice about the ThinkBook is the startup time is fast, like almost instant, for this reason I notice that i would gravitate to using the Thinkbook more just because its faster to start-up.
Built quality of the T495 is built like a tank, the ThinkBook is still okay, but not as well built as a thinkpad, you feel like you can use the thinkpad to smash something and it will still work, whereas you don't get that same feeling with the Thinkbook. Still the built and the smaller form factor of the Thinkbook is still good enough.
As for display real estate, going from 14 inch to 13 inch, it doesn't really feel like you lose much. Seems like you get the same content coverage on the 13 inch with the added bonus of it being smaller and thinner and easier to take around. Which display is better is still a bit hard to say, they are almost similar.
Battery life in the Thinkbook is amazing, I still need more time to actually gauge how much time i get, but lets just say I went the whole afternoon without a charge. Here it definitely beats the T495 and can last longer. If I were to give an estimate I would say between 6-8 hours real life usage, although the battery estimate at the battery icon shows 10-12 hours.
My ThinkBook unit actually has one defect that I found and that is a "crackling" audio sound coming from the left speaker. It doesn't happen all the time. Its on and off and happens maybe once or twice throughout the day. When I google, I see that this is a common issue in Ideapad and Legion laptops. So far i haven't found a fixed for it but its not something troubling and you can live with it cause not too loud.
Overall very satisfied with this ThinkBook 13s.
