Because not all Chinese are rich. Some of us buy sneakers from Cash Converters or even Tesco. My dad buys from Pasar Malam. Saw it few times.

It's always a misconception that the Chinese are wealthy and can buy luxury or expensive items or buy from 'classier' shops.

But then again Al Ikhsan's sales target was mainly Malays (nothing wrong with that) as that's quite a sizeable portion of the market. 2ndly, you also don't see much targeted advertising for non-Malays from Al-Ikhsan.. well at least i didn't see it on the media offline/online.

I wonder how they do that? Selling more items Malay like? Or have discounts for Malay? Or name like Arab? How do they target specifically Malays without showing banner' Malays only' in the shop, I curious.

It's the name of the shop.

If i open a sneaker shop called 'Muthuu Lingum', i'm pretty sure you know what the target audience would be.

Let’s be objective about this. 10-20 yrs ago, before the emergence of Sports Direct, JD, ASICS, Specialised Adidas originals and Nike Stores ( well there were Adidas and Nike stores, but not as many as today) I used to go visit Al Ikhsan to get my regular sneaker and jersey fix

Nowadays, I look at Al Ikhsan’s product offerings and goodness gracious, they are god awful.

I mean, how the f one can buy a football boots with bright green and reflective colours on it???? Furthermore, it’s so hard to find shorts in the store, they have a lot of jogger pants and 3/4 track bottoms, obviously you can see their target market. There are too many low and mid range shoes on the shelf, and they cater for customers who just wanna buy a simple pair of shoes for daily usage.

Some of those sports shoes were downright fugly you can’t even tell whether it’s AA stuff or original. I rather go visit Adidas and Nike and JD where they have occasional limited edition and latest stuff. More niche products or collaboration goods so to speak.

No money how to buy?
Chinese are rich only in your mind.

I think the reason some tend to show off in public, posting fancy food or nice vacation.
They have a very good financial planning, saving and such to pull this off.

Others tend to eat warung or mamak because there isnt much middle ground for halal food.
Either cheaper warung/mamak (not cheap anyway) or expensive high class restaurant for elites.
You really wont see elites easily here.
Generally you see its easier to sell certain halal products to them, many products that not really useful but merely supporting friends or relative. There goes the money.

Looking from both side, you see why people think chinese is generally richer but it might not be the case. Just different way of spending.

Nope. i guess mainly most non-malays do not know what al-ikhsan sell, the shop name doesnt sound like normal sport brand shop at all.

Anyway, i dont mind shopping there as long as the product they sell are genuine and cheaper than it's competitor. (i just realize they sell sport attire today lol)

cb ts dont generalize la, im cainis n i used to go buy at al ikhsan very often many years ago when i was still a student, last time no RSL, no studio R, no sportsdirect, no OC , oni got al ikhsan so i usually go thr to buy my sports gears cos its obviously cheaper than nike/adidas/puma stores

but over the years many other competitors emerge, n like wat others say, al ikhsan didnt improve their product offerings, i can get nicer n cheaper stuffs in other shops like OC or sportsdirect, so now i also dont go al ikhsan ledi

Used to frequent that shop since it’s early days at Taman U Skudai, way before they start expanding. Okla for general sports stuff.

The Football Republic shop such as at Suria KLCC is under Al-Ikhsan.

I do buy stuffs from them when the price is good. I dont hv a preference for shops or shop loyalty. I have preference for good customer service and good pricing. Truth to be told , their marketting is almost non existent.

2ndly, you also don't see much targeted advertising for non-Malays from Al-Ikhsan.. well at least i didn't see it on the media offline/online.

thr is no such thing as high grade or low grade in those sports gears frm nike/adidas etc, all are the same wan, wat is sold in al ikhsan is the same as wat is sold in sports direct etc

but thr is a diff between replica and authentic sports gears, wat u see in those stores, rm100-300 punya shoes, or rm200++ jerseys etc are all replica, they are not fakes, but are replica items sold by nike/adidas/puma to the general public, cos we casual sport players are the ones that will be buying those replica gears to play our sports, for example, authentic football boots are priced at rm800++ to rm1000++ , those are worn by professional footballers u see on TV every week, while we casual players dont need so expensive punya shoes, so they also release the same replica shoes but much cheaper at rm200++ and obviously wont be as good as the authentic ones. the same goes to other sports items like jerseys, gloves etc

so the only difference is authentic or replica, and both are original products sold by nike/adidas etc, and al ihksan and all the sports megastores are selling the same original products(replica or authentic) by nike/adidas etc, there is no such thing as diff grade product sold in al ikhsan or sportsdirect or JD or whatever shops

Your description more fitting to high grade and low grade. Masses is low grade.

Replica usually meaning an exact copy of something. What you described is of different quality.

ya i noe, but wat u are saying is like u are trying to say the replicas have different grades, like high grade replica or low grade replica and al ikhsan is selling low grade replicas while other stores are selling high grade replicas

the fact is there is only 2 grades, authentic(high grade) and replica(low grade), and those sold in all the sports stores, dont care if al ikhsan ka, or sports direct ka all are the same, either authentic or replica je, even sports direct or OC or studio R all those also selling the replica products same as al ikhsan

and also all the sports stores do sell authentic(high grade) stuffs also, even al ikhsan too, but just that the choices are limited and nobody buys them, cos an authentic football boots can cost more than rm1000++

I went to al-ikhsan a few times to survey, but in the end didn't buy anything. Pricing tak ngam my budget. Anyway I am still wearing a 7 year old unknown brand sneakers I bought from a warehouse sales. No reason for me to buy new shoes yet.
