Apology if this has been asked or discussed before. Just wanna ask for opinion on panel lining. I've tried both Gundam Marker gm01(those fine tip) and Tamiya Panel Accent on my experimental sd kit. Needless to say, panel accent is definitely easier to use and it does give a 'cleaner' result. But i have read about panel accent might cause cracks on unpainted kit.
My question, what's the reason for the crack, so that i can avoid it. I also read about doing the panel line while the kit is still on the runner to avoid the crack. Any opinion is greatly appreciated. My apology again, still very new to gunpla, especially when it comes to detailing |

QUOTE(mzack1104 @ Dec 9 2020, 03:59 PM) There is huge different between those RG, MG and PG. How solid are those inner frame? So far, I only have RG and I feel the inner frame is soft. Most detail of course PG due to the number of different parts. While for RG, its a size of a HG (1/144) but with detail of MG (1/100). I want to try MG, but not sure if the inner frame is the same as RG. |

Yes, RG part due to the size is prone to break if not handle carefully.I want to try MG, but not sure if the inner frame is the same as RG. Personally, i dont like RG due to this issue. Detailed but fragile. I still prefer MG, easy to custom paint or custom parts. I loved the inner frame on MG RX-78-2 ver 2.0. Many kits using this frame such as GN Sniper series, really solid. |

Yeah I've definitely read about it too, I remember the dude said the crack may happen if you put too much of the panel accent liner on the surface, as it causes the plastic to become brittle. So far I've never experienced it myself, so I guess you don't really need to worry about that. Just apply the liner moderately. My question, what's the reason for the crack, so that i can avoid it. Bandai plastic nowadays are quite good , never have i had issues with parts cracking due to using tamiya panel line accent. BTW, this HG Load Astray is surprisingly good. |

I've been eyeing up Barbatos as my second try at GunPla (first one was a HG RedComet - nothing special done)
my friend suggested I take on the MG Barbatos, but then googling around says some of the Barbatos models are subpar? (also, i swear there was price increase before this. i thought all HGs were like 50-60, suddenly all 100++) Does anyone have experience with any of the Barbatos? Or any recommendation for fun builds? Not looking for a "main character" type gundam, just something cool looking |

If you want cool looking kit, this is hard to recommend as looks are subjective my friend suggested I take on the MG Barbatos, but then googling around says some of the Barbatos models are subpar? The ones with shitty frames are the 1/100 HG kits. MG only got one version and an expansion armor set.

I dunno which variant you're referring to, but I'm working on a FM 1/100 Barbatos Lupus Rex atm and all I can say it is good. I have the MG Barbatos 4th form and heard a lot of praises but I didn't build it yet. Here is my current WIP on Barbatos Lupus Rex. Ok. Boight a MG Barbatos plus some clippers because I used like.. rusted dull ones before. We'll see how it goes.
I found a vid that basically took a look at the diff Barbatos models. They mentioned that some of the HG barbatos variants got flimsy joints or not balanced properly. Ah well. Hope the MG one is good |
