my son has an eczmea since he was 6 months old. it comes & goes sometime i am not sure the reason of it to flare up as i control what he ate
anyone can share tips to reduce eczmea flare up + good products you are using?

best is to seek a doctor/professional advice... i had mine much later at the age of 4...
Cetaphille is a good soap to use but depending on your child's age...
try feeding him eel/unagi once a week. that helped for me

use isoderm for bathing or showering.

for skin care, i use to get the cream from famous clinic (Klinik Balkhis, Kota Bharu). Still haven't figure out the cream they use, mostly see the staff bancuh the cream by mixing of other products. so far the skin cream suitable for my son.

its allergy..
both my nieces also have this and keep scratching..
they went to a doc in Johor specialised in allergy/eczema..
depending on the seriousness of the allergy/eczema, they need to stop eating certain food..
one stop eggs, one stop sugary food... on top of that, certain medicine to eat as well..
both of them recovered a lot but will need to balance out for a year before it clears off 100%..

Off topic. Unagi is quite high in mercury. Can feed every week ar?

Best to check his allergy.

Don't sweat too much and try to cut down on food that triggers eczema. Use lotion such as Cetaphil, Ezzera.
Probiotics helps.

already did allergy test. basically allergic to egg & dust!

i realize when he poo poo better his eczema also clear up as well. guess its really in the gut as well

good that u know what's the allergies. at least can reduce the occurence of the eczema. btw, where did you go for the allergy test?

It may be allergic to certain products, or it may be irritation, for example, due to diapers.
It is better to consult a doctor when a rash appears to prevent unpleasant consequences.

If there is no possibility to see a doctor, then pay attention to what foods you used before. What clothes on the child is dressed at this moment, what cream was used. All this can cause eczema.

Where is the location of eczema?

How often your wife and baby consume soy product? and how much?

i bought cetaphil baby shower + shampoo. 2 in 1. as for the moisturizer, cetaphil works best for my son since i tried quite a lot of brands. but then it depends on the child i believe. can give it a try and see whether it works for your daughter. i have tried QV, moogoo, aveeno (bought aveeno eczema in perth but cant find it in malaysia. here can find aveeno but not specifically for eczema. quite good as well), ezzera & few more

did allergy test in avisena (previously known as demc, in shah alam). cant really remember how much as it was yearsss back. suggest to give them a call to check on price and if you are ok to ask for appointment

went to demc (now known as avisena) in shah alam. egg & dust is very difficult to avoid. pity him as he can only see his friends enjoy birthday cake during birthday celebration but lucky now he understand cake got egg, egg will make him itch so he will also try to avoid eating anything with egg (he is now 3years+). however its very difficult to avoid flare up eventhough we avoid all those allergies factor. seems that i need to read more as well on eczema trigger factor..which might be a lot!

It’s probably not just egg & dust. It could be something uncommon that wasn’t tested during the allergen test. So ideally keep a food diary too to track all the stuffs that your son consumed daily. Every time the eczema flares up, check back what he has eaten in the past 24 hours. It’ll help you identify his other eczema triggers.

Since eczema is an auto immune disorder, try to avoid inflammatory foods like gluten & sugar as well. Basically try to eat clean. While you’re at that, eat more foods that improves the immune system. Either directly eg ginger, turmeric, black seeds etc or indirectly eg probiotics, prebiotics, vitamin C etc.

Skincare wise, I’d usually suggest to use really simple & basic stuffs too. Less is more.

It’s gonna be a challenging struggle now, but hopefully with all those efforts, he’ll outgrow his eczema.

Sharing this as a fellow parents whose kids have eczema:
As there are many brands/types of eczema lotions/cream out there, some may work wonders for some but not all.
My personal opinion would be to try and see which lotion works best for your child.

As for my child (he also developed eczema when he was about 6months), my wife and I tried many brands and kept a very-minimal,if almost no, tolerance to any lotion/cream that contains steroids. Eventually we found Cetaphil Restoraderm works best to bring down and prevent flare-ups.
The more "potent" one we used was Natralia's Eczema & Psoriasis Cream, but I tend to use it as sparingly as possible as we were concerned that too much might condition my child's skin to develop a need to use an even "stronger" cream in the future.

Now my child is 6, and there are still flare-ups due to eczema causing situations i.e dust/unsuitable sun-screen lotions, etc., his skin is much better an all we can do is keep his skin as moisturized as possible. Resorted to the normal(cheaper) Cetaphil moisturizer at the moment.

But for me, bottom-line would be to keep skin as moisturized as possible.

Aveeno Dermexa (Ezcema Therapy) can be bought from major pharmacies like Guardia, Watsons and even online at Lazada and Shopee.

I know!! Back then, wife and I had to be as thick-skinned as possible to pester anyone who's going to Australia to buy Eczema lotions/creams for us. One product we couldn't find here (during then) was the Natralia Psoriasis Eczema cream. Not to mention Restoraderm is more expensive than in Australia. I think it was MYR130 here, where as we got some friends to buy and bring it back for MYR60/per bottle... I think it was around AUD20 or less over there, provided you get from places like Chemist Warehouse, etc.

Don't give formula milk as have laktose. Give soy expensive but good for them. My son was so bad so drink only soy. Isomil Plus is ok

tried giving soy milk but becomes worst for him. almost whole face becomes red. read that soy can also trigger eczema. after that go back to giving previous milk.

First kudos to a great parenting ... but eczema comes in a lot of sensitivities, I'll separate a few in below summarize;

1. For head try use sebame so they won't form bad dandruff but consult pharmacy if it's ok for infant this age
2. Use soap which is medicinal
3. Seafood is a no no
4. Tight waist pant, belt metal will cause itchiness - try stay out of it

Lastly I got one friend severe case but he's late 20s or early 30s it comes and go, he went hospital for jap and they wrap him like mummy but it was a good kill for the eczhema.. note that this is better treatment in SG as MY treat it differently

7 months old baby is fed with manufactured formula?!!
Then suffer eczema, parents continue to feed formula!!!

Mother's breast milk is the best food for baby.

While reverting to breast milk, surface cleaning and hygiene, remember to keep the skin moisturize. Two weeks should be evidence.

I pity seeing comments about seafood for a 6 months baby. Some parents really need to get educated.

my son is now almost 4 years old and i breastfed him until 2 years plus. stop because he rejected breast milk. mention he got ezcema SINCE 6 months old and he never ate seafood his entire life...aside from salmon

Thank you for clarifying. Child is 3+ years of age.

There is a human physiological function called "weening"
It is natural and common. It means human child goes off milk.

Then find out, 'lactose intolerance' another natural physiological change.

Once you understand these physiological functions, then ask one question.
Why are you forcing your child milk that the body is design to reject.

When you shift to Isomil, the body still has to expel the toxin.
That's why the eczema did not subside. Also I suggest 2 weeks.

Hope it is clear what you need to do.

Don't listen to public because there are people profiting from selling milk. Remember one PM once said 1mdb is good but then hoard billions at home.

2 weeks, then see the results.

actually my son drinks EBM previously. did test and seems that he is not allergic to lactose. dont really listen to public but want some suggestion especially from parents with experience having kids with eczema. there's only 1 comment on milk though.. and i still go to the pediatric dermatologist. but thanks for the input

There is a scientific research, (no time now to search it for just 1 person)
It documented how babies did not react to allergy test because test is just a prick on the skin or mix of blood.
But when the diet was corrected, change occurred.

There may be other causes for eczema so personal results may vary.

Ideally should test for 2 to 4 weeks abstain, then introduce the sensitive ingredient again, to validate findings.
But that would be more suffering for the child.

While I have benefit from some good doctors, I have been a victim of many doctors too.
Medical centers profit from patient visits, test and sales of pharmaceutical and equipment.
Some doctors are not even up-to-date. As Jack Ma said, experts are familiar with the past.

When you post on public forum like LYN, this is listening to public.
Only Laitlee and me recognize lactose intolerance. Intelligent people are a minority.

Edit: Animals' milk is different from human breast milk. For a calf to grow from infant to adult weight, what do you think cow's milk is made for? Not suitable for human? But if you disagree, why not buy a carton of cow's milk and drink it all yourself for a whole day. You won't die but your body will suffer the consequences.

well Idk in details but he was wrap like a mummy and was told jap needed....since then it was like 2 - 3 months after his eczema since to be improve a lot

well thanks, by the way i am looking for opinions which i will be discussing with my paed dermatologist. another doctor suggest to do that. instead of getting only input from the doctor, we do reading and ask around because others might have experience. so we discussed with our doctor and only do what is best for the kid. i dont randomly just listen and follow. some ppl might be intelligent but in terms of manners, they lack of it either face to face or digital

Hope you update your move and results here.

So our Daughter was diagnosed with Ezcema from 4 months old. (She's 5 years old now). The battle last about 3 years with on and off steroidal and moisturizing lotions.
One thing that we did learn is to have a strict regime of moisturizing and only use steroidal cream 3-5 days max during flares then you will need breaks.

The other thing that we learned was that chemical irritant in our daily products like household cleaning, laundry products, fragrance and SLS being the main caused as explained by the doctors.
Not sure if it would work for you, but it did work for us.

In general here below are the ingredients that we should avoid:

BHA, BHT, Coal tar dyes: p-phenylenediamine, DEA-related ingredients, Dibutyl phthalate, Formaldehyde, Parabens, Parfum (a.k.a. fragrance), PEG compounds, Petrolatum, Siloxanes, Sodium laureth sulfate, Triclosan

We are lucky to be able to keep her ezcema in control, rarely requiring steroid application, only when it gets worse, and we kept to Aveeno Baby as her daily moisturizer.
We are off steroid for about 3 years now, and she's much better.

Me suffering for eczema for years. It is very difficult to find out which is the allergent.

The best way is to go do blood test for allergent, any medical center / BP lab can do, around few hundred.

They will give you a report to show you which is the allergent, then you will know what to avoid. Blood test is the best way to find out.

Do not waste your value money on other things, i have gone through that route, none will solve your problem, until you know which is the thing that cause you the problem.

Go do allergy blood test.
