Hi experience parents,

What do you guys think about getting a soft structure baby carrier for a four months old baby? To bring the baby for walks in the park, clinic visits, travelling...

Would a stroller be good enough?
Will the carrier end up as a white elephant in the storeroom?
How long did you use your carrier?

Thanks in advance for your feedback icon_rolleyes.gif

i use both carrier & stroller. & for carrier i have the soft fabric one which u need to flip & knot & another a structured one (ergobaby). my 3 month old easily fell asleep when in carrier so i always transfer to the stroller when she's asleep. so yeah u need both

second to this,
I've try a few baby carrier and ergobaby most comfortable (personal opinion). and easier to handle without any assistance.
Im using it almost until my son around 1 year old.

Thanks for sharing your experience @wholaimi and @K@ido_, I'm currently checking out Tula Explore blush.gif

My colleagues was sharing with me that they only used it a couple of times because their baby got too heavy and it hurts their back
Ergonomic quality baby carrier does cost a bomb for just a few piece of cloth, would be a waste if it's only going to be used once of twice.

I am using Pittari wrap, something like Moby wrap but with a pouch. Only use it at home when he doesn't want to sleep and just want to cuddle. Not very practical to use outside cause will get warm, and leceh to put the baby in. By 5 months old, my baby won't stay still inside the wrap now so no longer using it.

I will look for an ergonomic carrier next time for travelling.

I did some googling and most parents seems to recommend soft structured type carrier 😉 Those type of carrier provide more lumbar support I guess...

Take note of the material, not too thick because of the weather in Malaysia. Don't take those type where baby's leg is hanging almost straight, will hurt their leg. Their legs should bend and slightly form a shape like 'M', like they're squatting.

You can join Malaysian Babywearers FSOT facebook page. They have a list of safe/recommended baby carriers.

The moby wrap and pittari more for home use, especially when baby wants to feel cuddled. The structured type, the baby feel less attached to your body, may not like it.

I do know of a toddler that had to go through surgery for hip dysplasia from sitting in a non-ergonomic baby carrier sad.gif
Din't know Malaysian Babywearers FSOT facebook page provides the list of safe baby carriers. I referred to the International Hip Dysplasia Institute for the list of safe baby carriers (link: https://hipdysplasia.org/developmental-dysp...lthy-products/). The downside is those are international brands that sell expensive carrier rclxub.gif

By the way, I just got a Tula explore coast 2 days ago, still trying out with my baby. Despite the mesh, it does feel quite hot. Going to try use it for walks in park.
