Sonic the Hedgehog - This was surprisingly good. 4 Star.

"imprisoned" at home.... what else better to do but watch MORE tv?!

after star wars9, there aren't any great movies.

and will need to wait long time since many big movies now delayed, not screened due to covid19.


anyway... briefly:

.. bad boys for life - 3/5, ok but has little charm left.
.. underwater - 2.5/5, disappointing syfy horror, nothing close to alien series or the like.
.. sonic hedgehog - 2.5/5, ok for family, light fun... sequel planned.
.. miss & mrs cops - 2.5/5, korean, not so funny action comedy.
.. escape from pretoria - 3/5... 70's true story, apartheid era in south africa.. reasonable thriller.
.. gretel and hansel - 2.5/5, a kid's bedtime story twisted into a horror movie.
.. the captain - 3/5, chinese action drama, true 2018 flight incident, quite dramatic but subpar animation/effects.

during this period, i find better quality in tv shows:

.. homeland... final season.
.. devs - s1, very creative... syfy, quantum theory-crime thriller.
.. westworld s3... the story now expanded way beyond the original 1973 movie; highly creative with current AI/robotics tech knowledge.
.. kurulus osman... turkish historical drama, sequel to dirilis etrugrul - foundations of the ottoman empire, byzantine, mongols.
.. kalifat (caliphate) s1, netflix swedish series... political drama/thriller.
.. fauda s3... coming april 16 on netflix... israel action thriller.


and if u have not watched CONTAGION 2011, please do.
i watched it years ago, dun remember much, just rewatched it.
an instant reminder that many things were envisioned/known 9 years ago.
in the movie, it was MEV-1, today we have COVID-19.
at that time, "R0", "fomite", "social distancing", "human receptor cells", "bats&pig" already exist in cinema stories.
highly relevant now.

First time watching The Revenant. Freaking awesome scenery but yet disgusting on human from behavior to surviving. 4 Star

I had re-watch this in full uncompressed version after I seen reviewer give outstanding video quality. It was not too dark and not too dusty.

Sorry for my bad review previously due to the copy I get is not well decode, also due to my previous TV can't proper display it and the too dark and dusty previously make me not watch it in proper and feel bored.

I had change my opinion on this film. It is great well done.
Just make sure you are watching the original 4K UHD version with proper HDR TV which have higher nits.
Recommended watch with OLED TV or QLED TV 80 and 90 series.

Story - 4 Star
Video Quality - 5 Star
Sound Quality - 5 Star

Color out of Space - I don't like it. I don't like the way they portrait the Alien. 1 Star.

u watch disc based version or rip version?

Rip remux version, so it is same as physical disc version. I seldom buy disc already. My original 4K UHD blu-ray disc has less than 10. Haha!

The different is I am watching in HDR10 format instead of Dolby Vision as Dolby Vision is not able to rip out yet. Anyway if I own the disc I also cannot play in Dolby Vision as my 4K UHD blu-ray player not support Dolby Vision.

I had compare Dolby Vision format in Netflix v/s none normal HDR10, it is not very huge differences, I can only said Dolby Vision normally had slightly better contrast. I can't compare with physical disc as I don't have Dolby Vision support 4K UHD blu-ray player. Haha!

i think this due to dynamic tone mapping from LG C9 is fantastic for HDR10 content.

Maybe, haha! From review, LG did fantastic in Dynamic Tone Mapping.

No regret getting it. I just watch a SD film and I notice it is watchable, the upscale did by C9 is far better than my previous TV also.

yeah.. really good job makes HDR10 looks so good that it is basically a HDR10+ no wonder they don want to pay additional fee to HDR10+ lol. They say is free but actually to use HDR10+ they need pay annual subscription fee.

Watched the great battle korean movie in 1080p no HDR. It is historical story, felt abit like 300 to me lol. Gonna re-watch godzilla in HDR
