Have you watched the Hannibal show? That is great as well. Too bad the show about the cop from the movies was a flop.

Hannibal film series all based on books by Thomas Harris.

Manhunter (1986)
The Silence of the Lambs (1991)
Hannibal (2001)
Red Dragon (2002)
Hannibal Rising (2007)

i hv watched all of them.
Manhunter is the older version of Red Dragon, v similar.
Silence of the Lambs is probably the most impactful one.
Hannibal is OK, i like it too.
Hannibal Rising - not as good as the rest.

Not bad but can easily bored you out if you not interested with the storyline

A physic undergraduate like me would like this movie very much, many early 20th century reputable physicists showed up in the movie, telling famous quantum mechanics and general relativity stories that make me resonate to them. I admit this movie can be difficult to follow if you are not familiar with the quantum physics history.

The movie also having solid and powerful bass, my SVS subs working very hard in this movie, great picture and sound effects indeed.

ok...

Oppenheimer is a 3hr movie... a pure drama, much of which is historically accurate i believe.

there's no action or thriller stuff... so, it will be very boring to some.

i didn't find it boring becos i hv interest in the subject and the main characters in the first atomic bomb story.

it doesn't dwell too much into the science, but is kept to a minimum, just the basics of nuclear fission.

the acting by cillian murphy and robert downey jr is outstanding, supported by others in their key roles of the prominent scientists at that time - einstein, fermi, heisenberg, bohr, etc.

the most prominent part of the film is director chris nolan did take pains to highlight the contentious issue of such a weapon leading to more n bigger weapons of unimaginable power of destruction. well, we now know there are uranium, plutonium, hydrogen and neutrons bombs sitting in a dozen countries that can blow up the earth 10 times over. "now, i become death, the destroyer of worlds" - the line is a quotation from the 32nd verse in the 11th chapter of the Bhagavad Gita.

if u hv some interest in the subject, it's worth watching. but it won't be in my collection.

The Creator is a good sci-fi action movie.

although the main idea of AI vs humans isn't new, the film is a winner in terms of visual effects, imagery, sound effects.

directed by Gareth Edwards (Godzilla, Rogue One); stars John David Washington, Gemma Chan, Ken Watanabe; + others who were a bit a "stiff" biggrin.gif.

the most memorable thing about this movie is the USS Nomad, a terrifying war spaceship.

the movie relives bits of Terminator2, Ex-Machina, Ghost in the Shell, Blade Runner 2049. 3.5/5.

One more sci-fi movie to recommend - Wandering Earth 2.

This 2023 movie is a prequel to Wandering Earth 2019.

I like it more than the 2019 one. Story is based on Liu Cixin's short story.

Good action, reasonable drama, some science/fiction.

Stars Wu Jing, Andy Lau. 3.5/5.

a 3rd episode is planned for 2027.

Hypnotic... writen n directed by Robert Rodriguez. 2.5/5.

a bit like Inception, Westworld, Scanners... not boring but lacks the finesse n magical visual touches of Chris Nolan like in Inception.

Creation of the Gods I 封神第一部:朝歌风云 is first in a trilogy of the classic Investiture of the Gods.

if u r interested in chinese mythology, this is a good rendition of the first part of a 600 yr old fictional tale that goes back to 1000BC.

there must hv been a dozen versions... this one is the best version i hv watched. 3.5/5.

2023 didn't have as many great movies as previous years, or so it seems.

i can only recall Wandering Earth 2 and Oppenheimer as good ones.

coming soon will include Napoleon, Rebel Moon.

for now, there is Killers of the Flower Moon - a 3.5hrs subtle crime drama from Martin Scorsese.

not an action film but it's a gripping story based on the book about the Osage Murders in 1920s. 3.5/5.

Narrated by uncle David but not very impressive the linkage between scene within the same episode seems not connecting well. I am having the stream copy the images is not sharp enough.. those who got the chance to watch these in the bluray copy.. feel free to comment.
