Hi guys, i would like to have some advice
im having a proton persona 2008 clocking @ 120k
recently having some trouble in the morning when i first starting my car, the transmission seems to have some delay when i switching from R to D, arnd 2-3 secs for the transmission to engage "D". I did msg some gearbox specialist about my problem but they quote me to overhaul my gearbox for rm2.5k. i wonder there is cheaper way to fix this problem.
any advice is appreciated, thanks.

when is the last time you change your transmission fluid?

i did my service on time, the transmission fluid still on going 10k remaining b4 it need to be change, i did check on the level, still fine, and the color still looks "pink"

Can try the atf treatment first.

u can try go to service center and asking them to check..
try ask then to "clucth adaptation" if im not mistaken
did your check engine indicator appear?

Try ATF treatment first. Look in shopee/lazada. JVAuto Lube and E3 oil gearbox treatment. No harm trying as cost less than RM100. It should be able to fix minor gearbox issue where the rubber seals are still not that bad condition yet. If doesn't work then only go for gearbox overhaul or change gearbox.

Did u changed gearbox filter as well?

2 things you can try.
ATF treatment and change the gearbox filter.

Treatment would be just pour and forget.

Filter gonna need to drop the gearbox to access the filter.

I don't think there is mechanical problems in worn out gears/bearings or piston clutches that may require replacements in a so called 'overhaul' .
However the delay problem could be caused by fluids (conditions, levels etc) or control valves (varnish) or solenoids.
Avoid the 'overhaul' expert but go to an 'expert' that only recommends fluid changes and/or conditioner FIRST, and go from there.

TS,happen during cold or during operating temperature also the same ?

it only happens during first start in the morning, or after it cool down. After first start, the problem doesnt occur again, there is no delay after i switch from R to D, until it cool down.

Did you only use SP 3 type of atf or you hantam any grade also masuk in your gearbox?

Drain your auto fluid, consider replacing the ATF filter but can be skipped if on budget as you require the filter + gasket + more fluids.

Use either one:
Lubegard Platinum
Or
k&W Trans X ATF Treatment (blue bottle)

Pour the additives first before New ATF, then top up ATF to cold Max level.

The the car to temperature going through the lower gears/D/N to stop, reverse, rinse repeat for 10 to 20+ minutes to temperature.

Check ATF level, top up to hot Max if needed.
If slight overfilled, let it be, however if overfilled a lot, please drain until at appropriate levels.

any problem with your car better let them see and test first. msg alone is not enough to justify the problem and the repair cost.

yea, i sent to normal workshop before, not gearbox specialist, but they seems unable to pin down my problems

I'm no professional, only a fellow slosh box owner that's having your symptoms on a Sentra.

And also slipping clutch plates slosh box on the Iswara.

The 2 ATF additives are my go to solutions.

Or did you have to rebuild your gearbox to solve?
