shopee seller, can't remember but a few also similar price range, but all these is around rm200 difference when compared to local sets with warranty from Xiaomi Malaysia. So wondering if this phone has much problem so far. else can consider. Any good deals to recommend?  laugh.gif

The RM 200 for local set is just for the warranty. Personally I don't need it as I consider myself to be a careful user.

I have been buying original imported sets with shop warranties for over 5 years and had no problems with any of them.

The cheapest I can find on Shopee from local sellers are this and this.

I recently bought one for RM 639 during the 10.10 sale. Bought it from this seller that I regularly buy from. The price dropped to RM 655 and I used my Shopee coins. Received it on 12 October, Saturday.

Been using it since and it is by far the best phone I have ever used in terms of features. SD 665 is more of a sidegrade than an upgrade to the Mi A2's SD 660. The screen despite the Pentile 720p is not too bad. I can deal with it since AMOLED is just better than an IPS panel.

How's the battery life bro? no gaming sot nice?
the screen wise i not sure, as this phone i will get it for mostly video watching, not much reading, and i think should not hurt much.

one main concern is the minimum brightness. Gsmarena review mentioned that it is eye blinding 14 nits compare to others going as low as 1-2 nits. is it true?

Battery life is very good. Max I managed to get was 9 hours SOT. Mainly used for reading, browsing, social, YT, local stored videos and around 1 hour of Waze.

I did not test gaming as I don't really play games anymore.

At first I thought the 720p screen would be bad, but after playing around with a demo set at a store I concluded its not too bad. That made me buy the phone.

Minimum brightness is dim but not too dark. Don't really have a point of comparison on this as I don't have another phone with AMOLED. Been years since I used a phone with AMOLED.

thats what i would like to hear. The 9 hour sot is great, and our phone usage is similar.

about the minimum brightness, is use it in total darkness will it be too bright? i watch movies a lot when accompanying my kids sleeping.

In total darkness its not too bright. I use MX Player with brightness at 0.

Hey guys & girls

what's pros and cons of this phone ? For those has been using it for few months...
*
Been using it since 12 October. Your mileage may vary for the screen. For some its not sharp but for me its good enough. With it being AMOLED the vibrant colours makes me forget its 720p.

Pros:
- Battery life. Supports Quick Charge. Quick charger not included.
- GPS is good for me. I'm using Digi and Celcom.
- Build quality is good for the price.
- Camera is quite good. Ultrawide lens is just okay.

Cons
- Display. Depends on the user. Again, I'm not too bothered by the resolution.
- Hybrid slot. A dedicated microSD slot would be perfect.
- Notch. Personally I don't mind it.
- Fingerprint scanner is unable to recognise finger sometimes. Can be slow at times.

Great job Xiaomi. Mi A2 already got Android 10 and the current A3 still nothing. AndroidOne fast updates my arse.

Can i ask if anyone here switch to mi a3 from mi a2 6+128gb? feeling wanna switch but i dont know what to expect.

Curently I have both A2 and A3.

UI is exactly the same. Stock Android. A3 still on Android 9 where A2 is already updated to Android 10. Might get the version 10 update pretty soon.

Physically A3 is smaller and thicker but has a bigger long lasting battery. 7-8 hours SOT without even trying to save battery.

A3 has AMOLED so colours are vibrant. Being 720p is not very noticeable unless you put them both side by side. I've been using it since around October and the 720p screen does not bother me. YMMV

A3 fingerprint scanner is slow and does not recognise fingerprints from time to time. Have to manually type PIN to unlock. I prefer A2's rear mounted scanner.

Camera is where the A3 wins. Both rear and selfie.

The A3 has a card slot but you lose the second SIM slot if you have a memory card.

SOC performance is not much of an updrade from SD 660 to SD 665. Its more of a sidegrade.

Also, I can't seem to get 4G+ on the A3 but I can on A2. Don't know if I missed a setting or what.

Can't comment on 6GB RAM as my A2 is the 4/64GB variant.

Yes. Sad. Xiaomi lied and failed to deliver again. Their excuse is Coronavirus. Yeah right. But the A2 already got Android 10 last month.
