no, it's not that. nobody had a problem with wesley snipes, will smith and denzel washington playing cool badass characters. the problem is when race/gender becomes THE focus of the film or the marketing surrounding it.

in the case of black panther, it's a very clear case of "look folks, a BLACK hero" instead of "look, here's a HERO who happens to be half black/half latino" as in the case of into the spider-verse.
