So I bought my first bike - china-made/malaysian-assembly italjet buccaneer 250i

Im a new rider. got my b2 license back in 98 but ride kapchai like 5 times, never owned a bike. saw nasir haris promo video of the bike and thot eh this bike looks good (unique). would be good for a tank depan/clutch bike for learning

so paid around 14k for the bike, 1k for gears and started riding here and there, most of the times by myself. met a handful of other owners here in johor (like, 5 of them). teh tarik session once, that was it

as for the bike, heres my 2 months review:

1-this is NOT a performance bike, albeit the 250cc engine. its a lifan 17hp, youd be struggling for 110-120kmh. top at 130-140kmh but the stock upright position will make it hellish

2-nimble, excellent for city ride. but for long trip hiway ride and if you are pressed for time, youll be SEVERELY disappointed as LC and YSUKU whizzes pass by

3-tubed tires means forking extra for the tube, and the tire and tube are not something most workshop will have (tayar/tube moto jaguh/virago)

4-other key parts are scarce as well

5-so the bike is touted for custom cafe racer look. indeed, lotsa cosmetics available from online store

so if you ask me, menyesal ke beli? nope! being a new rider, i thoroughly enjoy riding here and there. and being recreational rides (rather than using it for daily commute), hopefully the maintenance will be far and apart to not hurt my wallet

i didnt quite like the look of gpx gentleman: looks too modern to me with all the embellishments. i dont know if its a better bike performance-wise tho (most probably it is)

cmc released the cheaper liquid-cooled daytona after i purchased my bike which i think looks good. wouldve bought that just because its cheaper haha

no, im not a cmc fanboy. spare part susah cari + mahal, official service center tak banyak, QC for its build and after sales service could be improved a hella lot.

i swear i thot i saw that word in the sloppy manual but i could be mistaken. cant find the manual atm

True, I oso got same problem, suspect rectifier/katab issue, batt not charging properly. I'm currently cycling 2 batteries, 1-2 months bila battery signal blink2, I swap and use battery charger to charge the almost dead one

Also right now always bawak one USB to alligator clip, just in case kalau mati tgh jalan, guna powerbank aje nak revive

Tunggu masa nak bawak sampai Shah alam claim warranty fix

Yesterday one of our Johor rider got stalled and had to dish rm100 to get the bike towed home. Most probably clutch pad issue.

I've shared my issue with rectifier but now it's fixed. Another rider had issue with jammed rear brake calipers.

So I'm sharing a disgruntled rider post posted recently.

Well to be fair the guy might be super unlucky to have ALL the issues happening to him.

I'd say, if you really have to buy this bike, buy it only if you live in KV so trip to shah Alam SC don't feel like hell. Kalau tak, bazir masa and duit only haha

Yaa… QianJiang factory (Benelli) have issues too...albeit not severe as CMC. Just a minor one.

What about Zontes? Heard the quality is good

That's the thing. Yet masuk 2020 the bike naik harga 1000 lebih!

That for me I roll eyes only. Tapi most fakap thing is when they sell the stock cst tyres at exorbitant price. Memang hantu betul!

this gives gpx msia good excuse to sell the 250 twin @ much higher price.

sorry, can't help u...as I didn't own that model. but from their fb group there is minor issue with their qc (e.g., screw and part loose). Pretty much same experience as my moped. For me it's not a big issue, but if u are picky then I suggest Z250... quite rare to see people complaint.

How this Benelli reliability compare to lc ? There are few Benelli models that with attractive price (2nd hand) rfs150 and tnt125.

But don't know about part availability and reliability. Afraid later these bike could not be repaired in the future

Pros:

i) good handling (i believe due to USD fork)
ii) good fc during city riding (best i can get is 57km/L)

Cons:

i) got qc issues here and there (minor)
ii) some workshop refused to repair this bike. But parts can be ordered online.
iii) not so refined engine. Feels rough. Compared to LC or y15, can feel that the latter are smoother

Overall okla. Value for money..i am not willing to splurge anything beyond 8k for a moped.

Hi bro, thanks for your valuable feedback. I'm also concerned about the workshop too since it's not as common compare to Japanese bike. But with price less than 5k (2nd) and features too probably much better option compare to older gen lc eh.

I bought second at rm4k. If in klang valley, no issue with the workshop...there is plenty of specialist. Luckily in my area (kuantan), I've found workshop that understand about this bike. So no issue for me

Some already have other bike/bikes, other maybe wanna upgrade. Maybe due to financial issue because of covid

As an owner myself, i wouldnt be surprised if one fell out of love with this bike. Many buy this bike for the look, custom culture and nice vtwin sound. And then they realized that thats all there is

Haven't seen buccaneer riders pasang delivery bag kat belakang but ramai yang pasang side bags

I saw a video of chopper charles buccaneer (from the US), he installed a rear mount on his bike. So yeah just a matter of finding that mount bracket haha

Back when I was in Jb, when my bike got rectifier issue, i contacted hq (klang) and the seller hooked me up with a workshop in jb where I can get it fixed under warranty. But I skipped that and rode all the way to shah alam instead. That workshop in jb all big 1 litre bikes, segan pulak aku hehe
