Three brands that I've been researching: Tuma, AireGard, Elta

TUMA
- Smallest unit is 21x21cm
- Noise at 29dB
- Extraction at 70cfm
- Consumes the least power due to DC motor
- Option of lighting combo

AireGard
- Smallest unit at 26x26cm
- Noise at 36dB
- Extraction at 90cfm
- No lighting combo

Elta
- Smallest unit at 30x30cm
- Noise at 29dB
- Extraction at 127cfm
- Option of lighting combo

Anyone have any experience to share when it comes to this?

Thanks in advance

the higher the CFM the higher the noise level, dont think is possible for elta with 127cfm but lower noise level than airegard.

TUMA has low noise level as it is using DC motor while Airegard and ELta i believe are using AC motor.

check the room size then do the cfm calculation first.
https://www.todayshomeowner.com/bathroom-ve...cfm-calculator/

the tuma seems too anemic and too expensive

for longevity, choose AC motor. just change the capacitor every 3 years or so.
choose one thats easy to clean.

Will definitely pull the ducting to vent outside.

From what I read, Tuma has the lowest power consumption due to the DC motor. Both AireGard and Elta Trade are AC motors. However, not sure how long does DC motor last if compared with AC motor.

Based on calculation, I would need 40cfm. But don't mind the extra power - sometimes #2 very smelly.

Was almost gonna buy Tuma since they have ones with LED and I don't have to punch another hole and pull wiring. Then I saw Elta Trade, who also have LED built in. So, now more options, more headache.

Noise level is ok la. Not gonna stay in there for hours, so anything below 40dB is bearable I guess.

I believe toilets nowadays are a bit small, for a moderate size toilet, assume
8 ft x 5ft x 9ft height, as per website cfm required is 48cfm
https://www.todayshomeowner.com/bathroom-ve...cfm-calculator/

Converter for m3/h to cfm
https://www.convertunits.com/from/cubic+m/hr/to/cfm

For easy comparison, here are the web for three brands in comparison smile.gif

1) Tuma
https://www.tuma.com.my/product.php?cls=1&id=2

2) airegard
https://www.airegard.com/ag-ventilation/as-6090/

3) Elta
https://www.eltatrade.asia/product/rf-series/

TUMA is not regular DC motor, it is brushless DC motor. In General DC Brushless Motor last longer

If would like to know more about AC/DC/Brushless, link below
https://www.orientalmotor.com/brushless-dc-...hed-motors.html

Copied from link above
"The brushes in the brushed motor are usually made of carbon or graphite compounds which wear during use. These brushes will require maintenance and replacement over time, so the motor will need to be accessible to ensure continued service. As the brushes wear the not create dust but noise caused by the rubbing against the commutator. Brushless motors have longer service lives and are cleaner and quieter because they do not have parts the rub or wear during use"

If you have used water heater with AC pump before, u might experience the pump noise increases overtime. While DC motor does not have this issue. So, for AC ventilation fan, noise will increase overtime as well due to wear & tear. Unlike DC "Brushless", no friction and noise remain low.

Tuma advantage is it provides more than enough CFM (70, while required 48). Low noise, energy saving & more durable with brushless dc motor. 3 years warranty with on site service, some brands require you to dismantle and send back to factory for repair.

If big bathroom require more CFM then can consider Elta or tuma IM25 (147cfm)

I saw Elta at home fairs. Airegard at Harvey Norman. Tuna, you can go look for zheilwane's shop in Kepong.

I figured price doesn't matter much. It's a one time investment, so better be good quality and good after sales service.

from photo, seems like the LED is not lilke TUMA that is easily replaceable with a regular downlight, do double check with ELTA and how much the LED cost.

for TUMA, the SUNNYGO model comes with 3 years warranty for motor & LED light.

Can you show how the backdraft lid closes? Is it tight, or there's a big gap? Reason is I want to see if I can connect the fan from 2 bathrooms into one vent duct.

Thanks.

not recommended to install two vents into one duct.

even with the lid close, air can still pass through.

Hi there, has anyone installed the propeller type of ventilation fan onto their plaster ceiling before? Kindly refer to below pic. From what I found out, this type of ventilation fan doesn't connect to a ducting hose.

I am thinking of installing one near to my altar.
My concern here is the condition of the plaster ceiling after a few years of having trapped incense smokes and dust inside. Has anyone done this before?

The reason why I can't go for the modern type with ducting hose like Tuma and Airegard is because the depth of my plaster ceiling is low and also I can't hack my walls anymore.
